In Biological World, we will encounter many living things. These include the bacteria in our intestines, mushrooms in a field, trees in a forest, fish in the sea and birds in the air. Each of these things is different, yet they all share the spark of being ‘alive’. Biology is the study of life.
In the study of life, it is only natural that we might want to focus on humans. After all, we are everywhere! But it is important to remember that fish, birds and even bacteria are made of energy and matter, just like humans are.
It is human nature to ask questions about the world we live in. In Biological World we will consider many interesting questions, such as ‘Why do dogs pant?’ and ‘Why do human hands and bat wings have the same bone structure?’
The answers to such questions tell us something about how life developed so well on Earth.

z Humans are born, grow, reproduce and die. z Plants are green and can make their own food. z Humans are related to chimpanzees.
