Report A: Introduction


For a long time, equal opportunities in the workplace has been an important concept in human rights legislation. Recent legislation in the field of employment, particularly from the European Union, means that it is even more necessary now for organizations in all fields to check their equal opportunities policies. This report will describe a survey undertaken to find out the attitudes of members of staff towards equal opportunities. Recommendations will also be made as to how the institution can improve its equal opportunities policies.


Report B: Conclusion


To conclude, it is clear that there are some strengths and some weaknesses in the equal opportunities policy of the university. The university can be pleased with the high percentage of staff who feel that the EOP protects them to some extent. However, in our opinion, the institution needs to go much further in this area. First, the university should set up a small task force to review its current EO policies to ensure that they are fully in line with recent employment legislation. The task force should then recommend ways in which all staff can be informed of EO polices, especially hourly paid technical and manual staff. Finally, it should ensure that all staff have access to EO training. Unless action is taken urgently, the institution may be in danger of not fully complying with EO legislation.
