You will have a group seminar discussion in groups of 3–4 students on one or both of the following topics: • Alternative forms of teaching and assessment in university settings
• Collaborative learning and the importance of group work in an academic context
You will be presented with three more specific questions to discuss when you enter the exam room and will have five minutes to make notes before the discussion begins. Group 1
• What are the main advantages of using discussion activities and seminars for teaching at university level?
• In what different ways do people work in teams at university? How do you think this benefits students and learning?
• Would it be possible to have a course at university without any form of written assessment (i.e., essays and written exams)? What alternatives are there to this and in which contexts would this be appropriate?
