Introducing Talk for Writing in Early Years and KS1

Course number: 17 EYFS KS1 Course overview
This course looks at teaching fi ction writing in the EYFS and KS1 using the key principles of Talk for Writing. It will take a closer look at the teaching sequence, main strategies and techniques of Talk for Writing.
Sue will introduce practical and creative activities and resources to support each stage of imitation, innovation and independent application. The session will also cover word and sentence games to support the language needed for narrative.
Learning outcomes
✓ Gain an overview and understanding of how Talk for Writing works practically in settings and classrooms, so we can start to build consistent approaches and promote a love of literacy.
✓ Look at ways in which you can support your youngest writers at the beginning of their writing journey.
✓ Build a bank of work and sentence games linked to stories so that children are using and choosing appropriate language features.
✓ Take away ideas and activities to promote enjoyment and enthusiasm in young writers, leading to powerful writing and enhanced attainment.
