Course number: 10 EYFS Course overview


This course provides opportunities to look at the Early Education Sustained Shared Thinking and Emotional Wellbeing Scales (EYSSTEW) and the fi ndings from the research project ‘Interacting or Interfering’. It will consider how environments can support children to develop deeper thinking through the growth of their fascinations, interests and questions.


Kay will incorporate video clips, case studies and practical experiences to support delegates’ understanding, including examples from three settings to demonstrate how practitioners can form strong relationships with the children in their care.


Learning outcomes


✓ Refl ect upon PSED and the importance of the key person role in supporting strong relationships.


✓ Develop an understanding of sustained shared thinking and how to use the EYSSTEW to evaluate your own practice and improvement.


✓ Gain a deeper knowledge of interaction, using the research project from Julie Fisher to improve thinking about your own interactions.
