DSM-Firmenich appoints president of beauty unit
DSM-Firmenich has promoted Emmanuel Butstraen to the role of president of its Perfumery & Beauty business, effective 1 July. Butstraen will replace Ilaria
Resta, who is leaving DSM- Firmenich to become CEO of Swiss watchmaker Audemars Piguet. Since May 2022, Butstraen
has played an instrumental role in driving the merger of DSM and Firmenich and he will retaining his chief integration officer role. Prior to his appointment as
chief integration officer, Butstraen served as president of Taste & Beyond at Firmenich since 2018. He also brings extensive
experience in the personal care sector, having previously served as president of Solvay’s Novecare global business unit. Before that, he spent 17 years
at BASF, where he held the position of strategy senior VP of the Agricultural Products division. Butstraen holds a degree in
agricultural engineering and an MBA from the University of Lille, France. Geraldine Matchett and Dimitri

Azelis signs APAC agreement with Berkem
Azelis has signed an Asia- Pacific personal care ingredient distribution agreement with Groupe Berkem. Effective immediately, Azelis will distribute Berkem’s complete portfolio of plant-based cosmetic ingredients in Thailand and Korea. France-based Berkem develops

Stenholm joins the company
from PepsiCo, where she led the European Sustainability function. In this role, she will develop
a new ESG strategy for the company, building on DSM’s and Firmenich’s previous plans and actions.
Evident establishes production
company German personal care raw material supplier Evident Ingredients has established a subsidiary company, Evident Production, and a manufacturing facility in Saxony. Evident Production is focused
on manufacturing more than 25 proprietary preservative blends. The manufacturing site is equipped with state-of-the-art production equipment meeting the needs of a rapidly growing customer base.
The site also comprises a
separate warehouse to make logistics and quick supply to customers efficient. “Following the company’s
philosophy of keeping enough stock for customer demands this step was necessary to grow production capacity and warehouse area,” said Evident managing director Fernando Ibarra. “With three active warehouses in Germany, the resources are now set for the requirements of the industry and particularly those manufacturers who wish to keep their own raw material stock low”.
LipoTrue opens direct sales channel in Italy
Spanish cosmetic active ingredient producer LipoTrue has opened a direct sales channel in Italy. LipoTrue’s efforts in the
country will be spearheaded by Italy sales manager Francesco Porrini, who previously worked in personal care for Jeen and Bionap.
“This fruitful cooperation
with Italian customers will help LipoTrue to continue providing innovative concepts and ideas to the Italian market for the years to come,” he said. Before now, LipoTrue served
the Italian market through local distributor Prodotti Giani. LipoTrue believes the direct
approach will allow it to better understand the specific needs of Italian customers and work closely to develop exceptional products. “Italy is a market with a
rich tradition and passion for high-quality cosmetics. By becoming direct suppliers in Italy, we are able to supply cutting-edge active ingredients and innovative solutions directly to manufacturers and industry professionals in this country,” the Barcelona firm said in a statement.
