Innospec snaps up Brazilian speciality chemicals company QGP
Innospec has acquired QGP Química Gera (QGP), a speciality chemicals company located near Sao Paulo in Brazil.
The US firm said the deal
meant it now has a meaningful manufacturing, customer-service and product development base in South America.
QGP also adds new surfactant
and other speciality chemistries to Innospec’s global portfolio. Founded in 1992, QGP has
300 employees. Innospec will integrate QGP into its Performance Chemicals business. “We have been highly impressed
by QGP’s founders who have built a leading specialty chemical company backed by excellent customer service, innovation and technical support similar to our own,” said Innospec CEO and President Patrick S. Williams. “The product development and
manufacturing capabilities of QGP complement every performance chemicals end-market that we serve, including personal care, agriculture, home care, industrial chemicals, construction and mining,” he added. Terms of the acquisition were
not disclosed. Silab inaugurates northeast Asian subsidiary
French cosmetic ingredient maker Silab has opened an Asian subsidiary based in Tokyo, Japan. The Silab North East Asia
team will be responsible for promoting and distributing its natural active ingredients in Japan, as well as maintaining customer relations with its distributor in South Korea. “The variety of crises we
have all faced since 2020 has noticeably affected markets, in particular in Asia,” said Silab general manager of sales, international subsidiaries and CSR Jean-Philippe Cosson.
Azelis makes Colombia,
“Already strongly established
in China since 2003 and in South Asia (in Singapore) since 2013, we decided to boost our activity in North Asia by creating Silab North East Asia,” he added. “Opening a commercial
subsidiary in Japan was seen as
obvious and necessary to take over from our local distributor.” Silab North East Asia is
lead by regional sales manager Jean-Baptiste Grieu and a local inventory will be created in collaboration with a logistics company.
Barentz acquires Indian distributor
Barentz International has acquired Radian Chemical Products, an Indian distributor of personal care ingredients. The Dutch firm said the
acquisition enforces and complements the Barentz India product portfolio with innovative colour cosmetic ingredients. The deal is also expected
to open a realm of strategic opportunities for growth across the Asia Pacific region, it added. Radian chief executive Manoj
Botadra and the current team of Radian will continue to manage the day-to-day operations of the business.

Turkey deals Personal care ingredient distributor Azelis has acquired two competitors, Localpack of Colombia and Oktrade in Turkey. Founded in 2004,
Localpack is a speciality chemical distributor located in Medellin that employs 27 staff. The transaction is
expected to close early in the first quarter of 2024 after fulfillment of customary closing conditions. Meanwhile, Istanbul-based
Oktrade is said to have a strong portfolio and technical expertise in colour cosmetics, skin care and sun care. Founded in 2017, Oktrade
employs 12 people, including technical sales experts serving customers across Turkey. It also runs an application
laboratory, which will expand Azelis’ existing personal care laboratory capabilities in the country. “Our combined strength
not only broadens our product offerings but also reinforces our capability to continue delivering the highest level of service and technical expertise to our customers,” said Azelis.
