AGEM MEMBERSHIP NEWS MEMBER PROFILE Company / Acres Manufacturing

Web address / Acresmanufacturing.com AGEM Membership level / Bronze

Description / Acres Manufacturing was founded by John Acres, the inventor of casino systems technology. Since 1972, the Acres name has been synonymous with ground-breaking casino technology. In 1981, Acres started his first business, Electronic Data

Technologies. EDT created a system that allowed casinos to track slot machine players by using loyalty cards, offering gamblers rewards based on how much they played. He started his next

business, Mikohn, in 1986. Mikohn devised the modern progressive jackpot system in which slot jackpots increase over time, creating growing excitement for players. When Acres and his partner sold the company in 1989, Acres’ initial investment of $120,000 turned into $6m. His third company, Acres Gaming, invented a system in

which slot machines awarded instant bonuses based on current or accumulated play. Acres Gaming took $17m to reach consistent profitability; Acres sold it in 2003 for $143m, and the casino

industry has been at a technological standstill ever since. Acres has revolutionised the casino industry again with Foundation Casino Management System.

What newsworthy items can you share? Foundation reports any SAS meter change in real-time, giving

casinos over 1,000x more data than ever before. Tese metrics will reveal what really influences spend and loyalty decisions. Foundation’s structure gives casinos all ownership and control over this data, allowing it to be interfaced to anything the casino

wants. Foundation is currently being installed at all Penn National properties in Pennsylvania and is pending regulatory approvals in multiple jurisdictions.

Scientific Games was also a significant contributor to the overall growth in the index, adding 22.67 points as the result of a 14.8 per cent rise in stock price. The largest negative contributor to the index was Konami, whose 7.1 per cent drop in stock price led to a 12.14-point decrease.

MEMBERSHIP NEWS

AGEM Key Board of Directors Actions l Following the announcement earlier this year that AGEM Executive Director Marcus Prater will be moving on in 2022, the Officers embarked on an extensive search for his replacement. Tis recently concluded and after being ratified by the membership, it was announced that industry veteran Daron Dorsey will become the new Executive Director effective March 1, 2022. Dorsey has been an Officer and General Counsel of AGEM since 2016 but has resigned his post as Officer until he takes up his new position. In line with AGEM bylaws he is replaced by Ainsworth COO Ryan Comstock. Over the next five months Prater and Dorsey will work on a lengthy list of handover items to ensure a smooth transition.

l AGEM’s initiative to change regulations in Nevada to allow for cloud-based gaming technology is progressing, with regulatory counsel Dan Reaser submitting a formal document to Chair Brin Gibson and Chief of Technology Division Jim Barbee for review and comments. A period of public comment will follow before it can be moved up to the Nevada Gaming Commission to vote. Te Commission itself has also had a transformation, with Gov. Steve Sisolak appointing former Judge Jennifer Togliatti and state Sen. Ben Kieckhefer, in a move that will give the powerful five-member gambling regulatory panel its first female chair.

l G2E concluded and initial feedback from AGEM members at the October meeting was favourable. Attendance was down around 50 per cent from pre-pandemic levels, but generally it was felt that visitors were high quality and ready to do business. It was seen as the first big event to bring the industry together and was carried out successfully and safely. Positive changes noted by members included lower sound levels from exhibitors as well as smaller crowds that made conference and education sessions more conducive. Another success was a good-neighbour pilot program that requested that exhibitors not visit other supplier booths until the last day. Tis kept product demonstrations free for customers and worked very well. AGEM will work with RX and the American Gaming Association to incorporate this into the formal good-neighbour regulations going forward.

l Te AGEM Memorial Awards presentation took place at G2E on the show floor on October 6. Sebastian Salat is the recipient of the 2021 Jens Halle Memorial Award Honoring Excellence in Commercial Gaming Professionalism, and Alan Feldman is selected as the recipient of the 2021 Peter Mead Memorial Award Honoring Excellence in Gaming Media & Communications. Te whole ceremony can be viewed by visiting the AGEM website: www.agem.org/News

Forthcoming Events l Te newly named Bob McMonigle Memorial AGEM Cup Golf Tournament and

Holiday Reception will take place on November 30 at Southern Highlands Golf Course, Las Vegas. Te event has been renamed in honor of AGEM’s first president.

l AGEM members approved funding for two forthcoming events. Te National Council of Legislators from Gaming States will receive $5,000 sponsorship for its Winter and Summer meetings. Te Executive Development Program (EDP) Gender Diversity Scholarship sponsored by European Casino Association, partnering with AGEM, Clarion Events and the EDP will receive $3,200 from AGEM to sponsor one of four scholarships to be awarded by the scheme for this year’s virtual event.
