“Our hardware’s reliability has made us one of the most trusted companies in the casino printing industry. As we have excelled in hardware, we set out to do the same in software. For the past few years, we have established a Software Center of Excellence in Las Vegas to focus on our Epicentral Software Bonusing System and the back-of-house restaurant software solutions, BOHA!. “
TransAct: replicating hardware reliability in software solutions
Last month, TransAct Technologies joined 221 other exhibitors at the Venetian Expo in Las Vegas. Senior Vice President, Tracey Chernay, discusses the focus of customer enquiries on the booth, minimising supply chain issues for customers and the ongoing recovery of the US market.
What was your view of the event?
We were thrilled to return to G2E. Te casino industry is very tight-knit, so reuniting with our customers and market leaders was much overdue. Although we wish we could have met with our clients and team members from Europe and Asia, we hope to see them soon as possible. Even with the limited attendance, there was still a lively, positive atmosphere. We foresee the gaming industry roaring back in the next year, so it was exciting to gather and share our latest innovations.
What was the focus of customer enquiries on the booth and what were you specifically able to show in Vegas?
As always, we received many questions on our Epic Edge TITO printer. We call the ‘Edge’ the most advanced casino printer because it’s the only one that features a 300 DPI print resolution. In turn, this improves ticket readability and acceptance by bill validators, all while enabling casino operators to print eye- catching promotional coupons and bonus tickets with Epicentral. Te printer has two additional high-speed interfaces to simplify firmware updates and graphic downloads. A micro SD card updates the printer with no need to carry a laptop or turn off the slot machine.
We also displayed the tabletop companion of the Epic Edge, the Epic Edge TT. Addressing a growing need in the marketplace for tabletop printing, the TT version packages the Epic Edge printer, power supply and ServerPort in a tidy, compact design for use on table games, players’

club desks and cash desks. Due to the growing number of jurisdictions with sports betting in the United States, our Epic 880 roll printer also received a lot of attention from casino operators. Tis printer is the ideal choice when game or kiosk cabinet space is limited for applications, such as sports betting and video lottery terminals.
In a previous interview, we broke down the components of Epicentral. What does the addition of your latest innovation, Mobile Host, bring to to the Epicentral suite?
Together with the Epic Edge TITO printer, Epicentral prints intelligent promotional offers at the slot machine or table games while the guest is playing. With the addition of Epicentral Mobile host, running on an iPad or Android
tablet, casino slot floor managers will have a real-time dashboard of every player and activity on every game in the casino, paired with available offers and coupons, giving them the ability to instantly deliver promotions to their best players.
Additionally, Epicentral Mobile Host can provide a drill-down list of each slot machine player session to give hosts the ability to assess if a well-timed reward can further enhance play for their customer. If for any reason a player’s reward coupon has been damaged or lost, the host can look-up and reprint rewards on- demand. Casino Marketing and Slot Floor Managers can also view active promotions and coupons and select which offer they would like to award at the moment.
Since we last spoke over a year ago, have there been any innovations on the hardware front, or has the focus mostly been on the software side?
Our hardware’s reliability has made us one of the most trusted companies in the casino printing industry. As we have excelled in hardware, we set out to do the same in software. For the past few years, we have established a Software Center of Excellence in Las Vegas to focus on our Epicentral Software Bonusing System and the back-of-house restaurant software solutions, BOHA!
Our top-notch software department is dedicated to creating efficient and state-of-the-art software solutions for our customers. We only expect the team to keep growing post-COVID, as
