Waterland to Replace Middelkerke Casino


Napoleon Games is expanding its casino operations with the creation of a new location on the Belgian coast to replace the Middelkerke casino

Private equity firm Waterland Private Equity will take over the operation of Belgium’s Middelkerke Casino licence on the Belgian coast, through its Belgian subsidiary Napoleon Games, in September.


Te UK’s Rank Group was the previous holder of the Middelkerke casino licence, which is located on the coast of the North Sea in the province of West Flanders. Waterland, based in the Netherlands, has been granted a 15-year licence. It said it would close the existing casino on the seafront and develop a futuristic, arched casino complex., stretching 20 meters high into the air to form a glass wave in the central Epernay Square. It will cost €30m. Under the arch will be housed an event square of 1,200 square meters for all seasons. At the foot of the arch there is a multipurpose room of 650 square meters and space for commercial uses. Te hotel will have three floors with 60 rooms.

Century snaps up chance of filling Olympic’s shoes

Century Casinos’ subsidiary Casinos Poland has received approval from the Ministry of Finance to move its second casino license in Warsaw to a different location.


Te Century license currently operated at LIM center on a gaming floor of less than 3,000sq.ft will be moved to a 17,000sq.ft gaming floor situated at the Hilton hotel in Warsaw. Te location is well established, as Casinos Poland’s main competitor in the Warsaw market used to operate its flagship casino there until their casino license expired in late 2016.


Casinos Poland will refurbish the new venue, which will offer approximately 24 gaming tables and 70 slot machines,


and plans to open it in the second half of Q2 2017. “We are excited about this new location and believe it has the potential to contribute significantly to Casinos Poland’s successful performance,” Erwin Haitzmann and Peter Hoetzinger, Co CEOs of Century Casinos, said.


Olympic Entertainment Group’s Polish subsidiary Casino Polonia-Wrocław, which operated the flagship casino of OEG in Warsaw until September 2016, Olympic Casino Sunrise, submitted to the court its bankruptcy petition.

Olympic Casino Sunrise had been open for nine years. Te casino generated GGR of €9.4m and operating profit of €500,000 in the first half of 2016.

During the two year construction of the arch, the casino will be relocated to a temporary venue. Napoleon Games has two of the nine Belgian A licences, having already bought the nearby Knokke Casino.


Napoleon Games also operates 22 gaming arcades, of which most are located in Flanders. It also owns street operator JvH in the Netherlands. Napoleon Games is one of the Belgian market leaders in gaming and sports betting. SOUTH AFRICA – Kiron Interactive has extended its operations in Africa after agreeing a deal with Dafabet – Asia’s No 1 online betting and gaming site. The specialist virtuals provider will make a number of its racing titles, including horse racing, dog racing, and motor racing available to Dafabet for both its online and retail operations in Africa. The operator has recently taken its first steps into the African market, launching in Kenya.


The deal comes just weeks after Kiron expanded into South America with IVISA, an Argentina- licensed lottery and gaming solutions supplier with both retail and online channels.

UK – SIS has announced the appointment of Sandra McWilliams as its new Sales Director. The move supports the company’s on-going efforts to further drive its offer internationally, as well as expanding its customer base

McWilliams has over 15 years’ experience in various sales roles, most recently as Director of Sales with payment firm Equiniti.
