South Africa - EGT installs over 100 Generals Tsogo Sun Gaming, which operates casino and bingo sites in six South African provinces, has taken possession of 91 EGT machines for eight of its properties. The cabinets G 27-27 Up, G 27-27 St and G 32-32 VIP, equipped with the Gold Collection HD mix, are now part of the offerings at Western Cape’s Caledon Casino, Mykonos Casino in Langebaan, the Silverstar Casino at the foot of the Magaliesburg Mountains, the Gold Reef Casino in the heart of Johannesburg South, the Montecasino in Fourways, Blackrock Casino in Newcastle, the Golden Horse Casino located next to the Scottsville Racecourse and the Suncoast Casino in Durban.
In addition, 10 G 27-27 Up cabinets have been installed at Emperors Palace Casino, located near OR Tambo International airport in Johannesburg. The venue is owned and operated by Peermont Global, which has properties across South Africa and Botswana. All machines were delivered by EGT’s long-term distributor in the region – Custom Gaming Solutions, which has participated in the market for over 17 years.

Netherlands - Casinos close until January Holland Casino closed its doors again due to a tightening of coronavirus restrictions in the Netherlands. The enforced closures came less than a month after the casinos reopened on November 19 after a two-week lockdown. All 14 branches of the state-owned casino operator in Amsterdam-West, Amsterdam Center, Utrecht, Rotterdam, Scheveningen, Zandvoort, Groningen, Leeuwarden, Nijmegen, Enschede, Valkenburg, Venlo, Eindhoven and Breda will be shuttered until January 19, 2021.
South Africa - Pronet expands Pronet Gaming has recruited Anthony Murphy to the role of Head of Commercial Account Management. He will help drive business revenues for its client
base as the company accelerates its expansion into multiple jurisdictions. Murphy, who has more than 13 years’ experience in the industry, having held both B2C and B2B positions with Sporting Group, will manage the provider’s portfolio of new and existing customers, with a focus on building longstanding relationships.

SAZKA's financial results for the third quarter show consolidated gross gaming revenue increased by 66 per cent year-on-year to €769m. Consolidated operating EBITDA increased by 37 per cent year-on-year to €197m. Consolidated adjusted EBITDA, which excludes certain one-off items, increased by 32 per cent year-on-year to €207m. Consolidated profit after tax decreased by 33 per cent year- on-year to €48m, impacted by a €54m restructuring provision at CASAG.
SAZKA's land-based businesses in the Czech Republic and Austria, which were not materially impacted by restrictions in H1, have continued to perform well whilst online sales, which increased significantly during the period most impacted by COVID, have generally remained at these higher levels.

SAZKA's land-based business in Greece and Cyprus as well as casinos have been more affected by the current lockdown and are currently closed. Q3's results mean that consolidated gross gaming revenue over the first nine months of the year increased by four per cent year-on-year to €1,421m. Consolidated operating EBITDA decreased by 15 per cent year-on-year to €364m.
Consolidated adjusted EBITDA also decreased by 15 per cent year-on-year to €375 million and consolidated profit after tax from continuing operations decreased by 58 per cent year-on- year to €90m. In July, the Supervisory Board of CASAG approved a plan to optimise the cost structure of the casino business in Austria with the plan underway and expected to achieve circa €45m of annual cost savings by FY22.
In July and November, OPAP acquired additional interests in Stoiximan Group’s Greek and Cypriot business, the online gaming business in Greece. OPAP now holds an 84.5 per cent interest in SMGC. In November, KKCG and SAZKA Group announced that funds managed by affiliates of Apollo Global Management will invest €500m in a newly formed holding company which will become the owner of SAZKA Group at a valuation of €4.2bn.

Ireland sets out its regulatory roadmap for gambling and lotteries

Ireland has introduced an interim Gaming and Lotteries Act ahead of an overhaul of Irish gambling legislation in 2021.
Te Gambling and Lotteries (Amendment) Act 2019 came into effect on December 1 and amends Ireland’s Gaming and Lotteries Act 1956-2013. It focuses on streamlining the
application process for gambling and lottery licences, as well as the application process for smaller-scale gaming and lottery activity.
Te Act is designed to protect underage individuals by setting a minimum age for participating in gambling services at 18 years of age and bolstering customer protection in the country, standardising measures for the digital age.
Te Act also includes larger penalties for breaching gambling legislations’ provisions.
