Frankenstein Returns headlines LightWave launch as Light & Wonder expands hardware line-up

At G2E 2025, Brett Colbert, Senior Director of Product Management at Light & Wonder, unveiled a full suite of new cabinets and content, including the LightWave launch title Frankenstein Returns, highlighting how integrated design and storytelling are reshaping the casino floor.

Light & Wonder’s 2025 Global Gaming Expo presentation in Las Vegas demonstrated a clear focus on hardware innovation, unveiling four new cabinet platforms alongside a refreshed portfolio of premium licensed and proprietary titles. Te centrepiece was the debut of the LightWave cabinet, a large-scale portrait form factor designed as a visual “canvas” that merges game displays with high-resolution micro-LED surrounds to create cross-bank experiences visible across the gaming floor.

character colours, and added mechanics that make players feel constantly engaged in the feature cycle.”

Te game introduces four distinct ‘Frankenstein’s Head’ catalysts that trigger multipliers, jackpots or reel modifiers depending on colour, creating new layers of interaction within a familiar framework. Te new “wheel feature” adds another focal point for players, with bank- wide animations and a linked bonus sequence that can take over the entire LightWave display.

“Te idea,” Colbert continued, “is that our designers can use the sign however they want to take over the full bank, to create a moment that people around the casino can see and feel. Te sign isn’t just decoration; it’s part of the story.”
