E-COMMERCE PAYMENTS
In Italy, credit and debit cards represent around 31-33 per cent of online transactions, digital wallets such as PayPal, PostePay, Amazon Pay, and Google Pay hold approximately 35 per cent, bank transfers, including SEPA and MyBank, account for about 13 per cent, while cash on delivery remains in use at roughly four per cent. PostePay, the national postal service’s prepaid card, is especially popular – used by around 35 per cent of consumers for its convenience and security. PayPal also remains one of the most trusted payment methods across various purchase types, valued for its buyer protection and flexible funding options.

In October 2025, Italy’s social media market was distributed as follows: Facebook held a dominant 72 per cent share, followed by Instagram at 11 per cent, Pinterest at seven per cent, X (formerly Twitter) at five per cent, YouTube at two per cent, and the remaining share attributed to other platforms.
