New Products www.us-tech.com October, 2021 PI Expands Family of Digital Piezo Controllers

AUBURN, MA — PI has released its next-generation E-709 closed- loop piezo controller and inte- grated driver. It is well-suited for applications that require high- performance motion with nano - meter precision, such as those

performance linearization, high- speed tracking, and PI’s unique “F3” capability. F3 stands for “Fast Focus and Freeze.” When used with a fast objec-

tive focusing motor such as the P- 725, the autofocus drive can be bumplessly switched from an external (focus) sensor to the integrated position sensor inside the focusing stage. This feature allows for calibrated, precise, and highly stable motion on a nanometer scale, with respect to the focal plane. The new E-709 com-

found in semiconductor surface metrology, autofocus systems, medical apparatus, laser-beam steering, 3D imaging, and multi- photon and confocal microscopy. The new controller was

designed to provide 20 kHz sam- pling rate, twice the power of its predecessor along with multiple times its positioning resolution. Advanced features include high-

pact digital piezo con- troller is supported by a comprehensive software

package including drivers for LabVIEW, dynamic libraries for Windows and Linux, MATLAB, MetaMorph, µManager, etc. Despite that all servo opera-

tions inside the controller are dig- ital, an additional analog control interface with high-resolution A/D converters is included for ease of use with existing analog signals. Digital interfaces include

USB, SPI, RS-232. Supported functions include wave generator, data recorder, auto zero, and trig-

IQD Expands Selection of Rubidium Oscillators

PALM SPRINGS, CA — IQD, a Würth Elektronik eiSos Group company, has completed a recent expansion of its rubidium portfo- lio. The company has finished its IQRB-2 rubidium oscillator hand- book, which summarizes all tests undertaken — from temperature stability and short-term stability to supply pushing and more. The IQRB-2 fills the gap

between the IQRB-1 and the IQRB-3. The IQRB-1 offers a superb price-performance ratio, whereas the IQRB-3 offers an exceptional phase noise perform- ance paired with a 1 PPS syn- chronization. The IQRB-2 offers phase

noise close to the IQRB-3 per- formance — a close in phase

noise of –108 dBc/Hz at 1 Hz and a noise floor of –158 dBc/Hz at 10 kHz and below. Although it does not offer a

1 PPS synchronization, it is available at a more competitive price vs. the IQRB-3. With a short-term stability of 0.0075 ppb at Tau = 100s and an aging performance of a maximum of 0.05 ppb per month, the IQRB-2 is still a perfect match for vari- ous time and frequency synchro-

nization applications. Contact: IQD Frequency
