Try to be consistent. Having a regular rou- tine allows you to focus on improving specific areas, while keeping the ball rolling. This allows you to begin achieving goals with a level of predictability.

Close the loop. Use a system of checks and balances, or a stage-gate system. The system should confirm that a process is complete. This can be as simple as a checklist for gro- cery shopping. You might have a good mem- ory and have a slim chance of forgetting something. But, making a note lowers the chance of forgetting to zero percent.

Give recognition. Maybe you tell your wife how beautiful she looks, perhaps give some- one a gift card for a job well done, or maybe give someone their 10th anniversary day off to celebrate. Recognizing hard work, accom- plishments, and achievements can be extremely valuable and also earn loyalty from friends and colleagues.

Learn a new skill. This doesn’t have to be something extreme like brain surgery. Maybe it’s

CalcuQuote Expands Supply Chain Software

DALLAS, TX — CalcuQuote was started with the mission of creat- ing a fast, accurate and efficient quoting process for the electron- ics manufacturing services (EMS) industry. The primary problem to solve was sourcing components on the bill of materi- al (BOM). It is now easier than ever to quickly source the compo- nents on a BOM. API based transactions, adopted by the industry’s largest suppliers, have enabled near instant response for BOMs with hun- dreds of part numbers. CalcuQuote is now working

on the next evolution of supply chain connectedness: working with “make to order” suppliers such as PCB manufacturers. With hundreds of EMS com-

panies across the globe using the CQ ecosystem to process tens of thousands of quotes each month, CalcuQuote is in a unique position to help connect the PCB manufac- turers with EMS companies. CalcuQuote is building a

global directory of PCB manufac- turers that will be searchable within the CQ ecosystem. PCB manufacturers can participate in this directory for free, forever, with the added benefits of show- casing capabilities, discovering opportunities and more easily collaborating with customers. painting, or a new software language, or tak- ing courses from a community college in a subject you’ve always had some minor inter- est in. New information and skills keep your brain fresh.

Say no. If you don’t have the time to do some- thing important, it probably means that you are spending too much time on the wrong things. Maybe you say yes a bit too much to minor engagements or volunteer to be a key person too often. Free up some time so you can focus on more important things in your life.

Take time to think. For many, a regular commute is also time to think and organize tasks, maybe a way to prepare between calls. Working from home has changed the routine,

lowered the chance of serendipitous meetings or spontaneous activities, and reduced some of that “in-between” time. Block out time to meditate, or use that time to network.

Calibrate expectations. Often, one’s atti- tude toward a particular project reflects their expectations of it. If the bar seems too high, it may result in a negative attitude. If it’s set too low, one will be happy to have achieved it, but miss the satisfaction that comes from being challenged.
