Page 77 TI Intros Reinforced Isolator with Integrated Power

Dallas, TX — Texas Instruments (TI) has introduced a new single-chip reinforced isolator with integrated power that, reportedly, offers 80 per- cent higher efficiency than existing integrated devices. With efficient power transfer, low radiated emis- sions and high immunity this new reinforced isolator supports reliable operation of industrial systems, including factory automation, grid infrastructure, motor control, isolat- ed power supplies, and test and measurement equipment. With its low power consump-

tion, the ISOW7841 reduces device operating temperature, enabling high power delivery, high channel count and long system lifetime. Combining reinforced isolation and DC-DC conversion in a single pack- age minimizes board space and cost for easier multichannel system design. A working voltage of 1 kVrms helps provide improved system relia- bility and lifetime. The ISOW7841 supports an input voltage range of 3 to 5.5V, while delivering 0.65W of output power.

Form-in-Place TIM Fills Large Gaps

Fujipoly, NJ — Fujipoly® has intro- duced its SARCON® SPG-30B, a new form-in-place thermal gap filler designed to eliminate performance- hindering air gaps ranging from 0.08 to 1 mm (0.003 to 0.04 in.). The mate- rial delivers a thermal conductivity of 3.1 W/mK with a thermal resist- ance of 0.33 °Cin2/W. The ultra-low compression force

The ISOW7841 improves sys-

tem signal integrity by minimizing system noise and providing robust

electromagnetic compatibility to meet International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 61000-4-x stan-

dards for electrostatic discharge and electrical fast transient events. The reinforced isolator offers a high level of immunity, reducing the effect of noise and high-voltage events on industrial equipment. The ISOW7841 reinforced isola-

tor with a three forward/one back- ward channel configuration is the first device in the ISOW78xx family, with multiple devices expected later in 2017.

These new devices join TI’s iso-

lation portfolio that supports the highest isolation ratings, reliability,

immunity and performance. Contact: Texas Instruments,

SARCON SPG-30B thermal interface material.

silicone compound completely fills all spaces, gaps and protrusions when compressed between a heat source and a nearby heat sink or spreader. The material is easy to apply and does not require heat curing. This thermal interface material (TIM) also exhibits excellent vibration absorption and electrical insulation properties. The form-stable thermal com-

pound does not cause corrosion on metal surfaces and maintains its ini- tial properties across a wide temper- ature range of –40 to +150°C (–40 to +302°F). The material is available in 30 ml pre-filled syringes or 325 ml

cartridges. Contact: Fujipoly America
