Gowanda Introduces Established Reliability SMT Inductors
Gowanda, NY — Gowanda Elec - tronics has introduced off-the-shelf RF surface mount inductors with an Established Reliability (ER) rating. The series, ER3013, was developed in response to a market need for sur- face mount alternatives to tradition- al through-hole designs. Surface mount configurations
lend themselves to higher-efficiency pick-and-place circuit board assem- bly processes versus the more labori- ous, multistep through-hole assem- bly methods. The introduction of the ER SMT series will enable faster assembly processing, thereby helping to reduce the cost of high-reliability electronic systems where ER compo-
nents are used. The ER3013 series meets the
addresses three MIL-PRF-39010 slash numbers (/19, /20 and /21). This quali- fication required extensive testing for electrical, environmental, mechanical and thermal performance. Level M represents the first level of failure rat- ing for off-the-shelf inductors for high- reliability applications. In its ongoing commitment to the

military’s Qualified Products List (QPL) requirements for Established Reliability to failure rate level M and
military market, Gowanda intends to achieve higher level failure ratings (Levels P and R) as testing continues to accumulate the hours necessary to attain those ratings. The wirewound, molded ER3013
series is designed for RF applications in military, aerospace and space, in communication, guidance, security, radar, test and evaluation, and special mission equipment. The performance range of the
series includes inductance from 0.10 to 1,000 µH, Q min from 25 to 55,
SRF MHz min from 3.4 to 680, DCR Ohms max from 0.08 to 72, and cur- rent rating from 28 to 1,380 mA DC. Gowanda has been designing
and manufacturing both through-hole and SMT RF and power inductors for the military’s QPL for many years. This experience combined with several successful ER through-hole qualifica- tions has enabled development of the ER3013 SMT inductors, enhanced by the company’s long-term relationships with OEMs, including government contractors, and the Defense Depart -
ment’s Defense Logistics Agency. Contact: Gowanda Electronics,

Plymouth, MA — Tech-Etch is now offering EMI shielded quiet vents from prototype to high-volume pro- duction. In-house plating improves shielding effectiveness and environ- mental protection, while providing fast turnaround. The 8300 series quiet vents are
designed to provide high EMI shield- ing ratings of up to 90 dB attenuation. Shield ing is provid-
ed by two 0.25 in. (6.4 mm) thick honeycomb panels assem bled in a cross-cell configuration. Since the honey-
comb design yields 97% open vent area, unre- stricted airflow results in reduced turbulence and lower noise levels than vents constructed from perforated metal. Many RoHS compli-
ant finishes are avail- able. Offered in 66 stan- dard sizes, quiet vents are a low-cost shielding solution for the cooling requirements of today’s electronic equipment. Light-weight aluminum frames
attached mesh gasket. Quiet vents are available with
captive fasteners or through-holes. Tech-Etch manufactures a com-
plete line of standard and custom shielding products for both the com- mercial and military markets. Samples of EMI shielding quiet vents and full specifications are available
