HOTELS & HOSPITALITY

THE RIGHT IMPRESSION

After a turbulent two years and three lockdowns, the hotel and hospitality sector is ready for a more buoyant 2022. Paul Mulready, Marketing Manager of Northwood Hygiene Products Ltd, talks about what the industry should be offering across their facilities.

The pandemic forced hotels, restaurants and bars to socially distance drinkers and diners with measures such as one-way systems, spacing out tables and installing Perspex screens and barriers, and it’s likely that many of these precautions will remain in place this year to keep people safe.

Most guests will need to use the washroom at some time during their visit to an establishment, especially if they have children, and hospitality facilities managers must be prepared by ensuring that toilet facilities are thoroughly clean and regularly checked to reassure people that they are safe.

Similarly, duty managers should make sure that restrooms are kept very well stocked with toilet paper, soap and hand towels to ensure good hand hygiene. The use of paper hand towels, for instance, has increased significantly during the pandemic because they dry hands more quickly and hygienically than air dryers and more people are using them as a barrier to avoid touching the door handle when exiting the washroom.

Hygienic, yet high capacity High-capacity systems are ideal to match the heightened demand for washroom consumables at this time, whilst also reducing the need for janitorial staff to frequently visit to top up supplies during opening hours.

Systems, like the Raphael range of washroom dispensers from Northwood, are ideal for busy washrooms. Developed for high-use settings, Raphael helps to deliver improved washroom hygiene standards, whilst also saving money and reducing waste.

The Raphael range caters for both ‘front of house’ and ‘back of house’ use and includes a toilet tissue dispenser, four hand towel dispensers and a soap dispenser. The range features a wide variety of soap and paper options to suit different uses – from pure pulp embossed and

laminated 2-ply paper for public spaces to 1-ply recycled paper for back of house.

The roll towel dispensers hold up to 250m each and provide approximately 500 dries, with some offering stub- roll transfer to ensure zero waste.

The Raphael folded towel dispenser has a 1,000 sheet capacity and all Raphael hand drying systems dispense one at a time flat sheets to prevent overuse. To further reduce over usage and minimise any mess in the washroom, our dispensers have been designed not to free roll.

Hotel all-rounder When it comes to stocking hotel rooms and bathrooms, facilities managers may want to consider more luxurious products that add to the guest experience and bring a sense of indulgence. The Whisper premium tissue range from Northwood, for instance, offers a selection of premium toilet tissue, facial tissues and airlaid hand towels that the more discerning hotel guest would expect.

There are 2 and 3-ply luxury toilet tissues within the range, which are laminated or embossed to offer additional comfort and absorbency. Whisper facial tissues come in contemporary packaging and are available in a cube or traditional skillet, whilst the hand towels provide the utmost softness and absorbency, resulting in a luxurious hand drying experience.

Whisper makes a lavish addition to a guest room, but the range also caters for ‘back of house’ too, with products that are designed to meet the rigorous demands of modern industrial kitchens in hospitality and hotel settings.

Of course, it remains important for hospitality facilities managers to deliver stringent hygiene standards to maintain the wellbeing of guests and staff alike. By investing in well-designed systems, they can help to make both front of house and back of house safe and pleasant for everyone.
