When the government announced in January that its civil servants would be leading the way for Britain’s big return to the office, and urged others to do the same, it signalled 2022 as the year of the workplace revival. We’re all too aware that the novel comforts of working from home are losing their shine, and recent research published by the Office for National Statistics revealed that the start of this year saw one in five workers fork out more money to work from home – thanks to energy and internet prices rocketing across the UK – than they would have spent commuting to the office.
