SHOW GUIDE

AMSTERDAM’S NEW GOLDEN AGE

Co-organisers ISSA offer us a special insight into preparations for this year’s bonanza, giving us their top picks on what to see, and revealing the truly international appeal of the show.

Since the very first event way back in 1967, apart from the Dutch themselves, the UK cleaning industry has been the most ardent and active supporters of ISSA/Interclean Amsterdam Show.

So much so that now for many of us in the professional cleaning industry, the name Amsterdam has become almost synonymous with the kind of unmatched innovation, professional education, and business networking that will be enjoyed at the 26th ISSA/ Interclean Show, held at the RAI Amsterdam from 10-13th May.

As Dianna Steinbach, Director of EMEA Services for co-organisers ISSA, puts it: “ISSA/Interclean Amsterdam is the single most effective week to do business in the professional cleaning industry. There is no better event that offers the chance to network with so many high level executives from across the globe, personally investigate such a broad array of innovative solutions and find the next inspiration to drive your organisation’s success forward.”

The last edition of the show in 2014 was the largest-ever cleaning industry show and organisers advise that at this May’s event both visitor and exhibitor numbers are likely to break all records.

In terms of visitor numbers for the 2016 show, RAI Amsterdam reports that registrations are running strongly ahead of the figures from the same

point in the build-up to the last event. While the largest number of visitors obviously hail from Western Europe – and British visitors will be pleased to learn that English is the common language of the show – this year the largest percentage growth has been from visitors registering from Africa and in particular Egypt, Nigeria and Tunisia. There is also a confirmed delegation of 51 South Africans. Similarly, there has been a surge in visitor registrations from Turkey, Israel and Georgia. Visitor registrations have also been received for the first time ever from Guinea, Sudan, Ethiopia and Zimbabwe, confirming the international nature and appeal of this show.

What is also already beyond doubt is that more exhibition space has been reserved, occupying more halls at the RAI Amsterdam than ever before. Visitors can see more than 800 exhibitors showcasing their products and solutions in a total floor area of approximately 60,000m² spread over 11 halls. These exhibitors are drawn from over 40 countries and represent a comprehensive who’s who of the largest and longest-established manufacturers in the industry right through to hot, new technology start-ups.

As ever there is a very strong presence from UK-based companies including Truvox International, Hydro Systems, Brightwell Dispensers, Robert Scott and Mulberry Marketing Communications. Visitors will also

find all the leading industry names that you would expect to be there, with the largest stand spaces reserved by organisations such as Kärcher, Diversey Care, Nilfisk, Numatic, Deb and Newell Rubbermaid Europe.

INNOVATION The ISSA/Interclean Amsterdam show has achieved its enduring success by constantly innovating so that the event continues to be unmissable. For example, at the 2016 show, a new InnovationLab will be located in Hall 9 to provide a showcase for the nine products short-listed from 110 entries for the prestigious, and always fiercely contested, Amsterdam Innovation Award.

The overall winner and the three category winners in the Awards will be announced by the jury during a special ceremony on Tuesday 10th May in the RAI’s new Amtrium building at 12:00. At the same ceremony, the Visitors’ Choice Award will be awarded to the entry that receives the most votes from visitors to the show.

At the InnovationLab, attendees will be able to browse the details of all the Amsterdam Innovation Awards nominees on iPads and evaluate the features and performance data that make them groundbreaking. In addition, the InnovationLab is intended to be an inspiring environment where pioneering products and other revolutionary ideas are presented and discussed by exhibitors and visitors
