KATRIN INCLUSIVE DISPENSERS CELEBRATE MORE

AWARDS SUCCESS After claiming first place in both the Tomorrow’s Cleaning and Tomorrow’s FM Awards, the Katrin Inclusive Dispenser range from Metsä Tissue has continued its winning streak by claiming both the Award for Design Excellence and the Design for All Award at the annual Norwegian Design and Architecture Awards in Oslo.

The awards were nominated by the DOGA, Norwegian Centre for Design and Architecture on 27th of April in Oslo. These awards are a tribute to businesses and designers who use inclusive design to develop solutions adapted to all – regardless of age and disability.

Metsä Tissue’s new Katrin Inclusive Dispenser range has been designed in collaboration with industry experts,

MORE THAN JUST A FLOOR CLEANING

MACHINE The Preparation Group, specialists in surface preparation, removal and finishing, has added a new machine to the STG range, the STG400. A lighter version of the STG450, the 400 is designed for chemical-free, deep restorative cleaning and polishing of hard surfaces that have become scratched, stained and contaminated. It refurbishes floors and is even effective at light grinding.

The STG400 offers the perfect combination of long life motor, weight and speed. A real multi-tasker, it will polish hard surfaces to a high shine finish as well as removing laitance, paint, light surface contaminants and thin coatings.

Highly portable yet robust, the STG400 features a simple lever operation and ergonomic handle for safe and comfortable operation. There

as well as a wide variety of customers and end users right across Europe, and particularly takes into account the needs of a wide selection of users, including children, the elderly and those who are visually impaired, or have physical disabilities.

So far it has not been required that products used indoors in public buildings – such as in public restrooms, industrial premises, hotels, schools, restaurants and health institutions – must take into consideration the requirements of different end user groups and their needs.

Henrik den Ouden Runshaug, who has led the design of the new Katrin Inclusive Dispensers, said: “The new Katrin Inclusive dispenser range is designed for the professional market, which means that the products are

used by the widest possible group of users. Before starting the design process we conducted research in collaboration with a remarkable group of end users and customers throughout Europe to ensure that we fulfill the specific needs of different end user groups. We also closely collaborated with different industry experts who gave us insights to the challenges that the different users face when using public washrooms.”

To fit the STG400 and other standard rotary cleaners, auto scrubbers and polishing machines, the company offers Surface Finishing Diamond Pads (SFDs), designed for floor refurbishment and cleaning, and Storm Diamond Pads for cleaning and daily maintenance. These pads do away with the need for harsh chemicals and remove the need to ‘recoat’ floors with environmentally unsound and expensive waxes or polishes. They create a hygienic, shiny, yet non-slip floor by adding just water.

SFDs and Storm Pads come in grades to suit different floor conditions and produce optimum results on hard surfaces such as resin, epoxy, terrazzo, marble, natural stone, granite, ceramic tiles and concrete with the finer grade Storm pads also effectively maintaining vinyl.

To also fit the STG400 there are double-sided TCT (copper) discs for texturing and cleaning concrete and Silicon Carbide (black) sanding discs for light grinding and keying.
