10 QUESTIONS WITH... DAVE CARSON
Each month we ask a cleaning industry professional the Tomorrow’s Cleaning 10 Questions. This month, we chatted to Dave Carson, MD at P-Wave.
6 7 1
WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST JOB? I worked for my parents running a
transport café and petrol station on the A1. That gave me quite an insight into the ‘toilets away from home’ market, which may explain why I now work at P-Wave.
2
HOW DID YOU GET INTO THE CLEANING INDUSTRY?
Since 2000 I had been working for a specialist chemical company but about four years ago the opportunity came to head up the P-Wave range which I knew was very exciting. Since joining, the growth has been exceptional and I’m very lucky to be involved with some great customers and colleagues.

WHICH THREE WORDS DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONALITY? Loyal, committed, friendly.
IF YOU COULD VISIT ONE PLACE IN THE WORLD, WHERE WOULD
YOU GO AND WHY? Yosemite National Park. I’m booked to go there in a few weeks and it’s the most beautiful place I’ve been to in the world.
HOW WOULD YOU IMPROVE THE CLEANING INDUSTRY?
Stop people devaluing what they sell or supply. Many seem hung up on the price of everything and they forget the value.

IF AN INTERN WERE TO START TOMORROW, WHAT’S THE ONE
PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE THEM? Work hard, make relationships with everyone you meet, whatever they do. Find out who they are and what their story is.
IF YOU WON THE LOTTERY TOMORROW, HOW WOULD
YOU SPEND YOUR FORTUNE? Get some golf lessons, I love golf... it hates me! Then play some nice courses. Travel the world and look after my family as well as some charity work.
8
IF YOU COULD HOST A DINNER PARTY AND INVITE
ANY THREE PEOPLE, DEAD OR ALIVE, WHO WOULD THEY BE AND WHY? Jesus (that would answer a lot of questions), Jeff Lynne (I have always been a huge ELO fan) and my Dad (to see him again and say we’re all OK).
9
WHAT, DO YOU THINK, IS THE FUTURE OF THE CLEANING
INDUSTRY? I suspect we will always need to clean, so there will always be innovation and ideas on how to improve. As long as we have the right people doing their best then the future is bright!
Sam Tregidgo, Operations Administrator Apprentice at Facilicom Cleaning Services, asks:

IF YOU COULD CHOOSE TO EITHER HAVE AN UNLIMITED
FORTUNE OR ALL YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO STAY ALIVE AND YOUNG, WHAT WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY? Thanks for this Sam! What would the world look like as we watch everyone around us age and die? I’ll do a deal, have quite a lot of money and live healthy to a decent age. Job done!
