A CLEAN BILL OF HEALTH FOR DISTRIBUTION


Too often commercial buyers of cleaning products do not receive what they pay for, or receive


products late. But help is at hand – independent distributor accreditation is key to telling the top suppliers from cowboys, says Jangro Operations Director Joanne Gilliard.


The UK cleaning industry is bustling with a healthy range of large, medium and small companies, the majority of which operate to a very high standard with their client’s best interests at the core of their strategies. However, it only takes one instance of mis-selling, late delivery or even failure to deliver to put a buyer off an entire brand, even if the oversight was ultimately the fault of a distributor further along the supply chain.


When it comes to supplying the cleaning industry, quality, consistency and reliability are crucial. But until recently buyers had very little to go on when it came to gauging the reputation of distributors, other than word-of-mouth and prior experience.


Therefore, when the UK Cleaning & Hygiene Suppliers Association (CHSA) introduced a new Accredited Distributor Scheme at the start of this year, it’s no surprise that Jangro jumped at the opportunity to have its quality distributor network independently audited, and in fact became one of the first distributors in the country to receive accreditation.

VERIFICATION To join the CHSA Accredited Distributors Scheme, distributors must sign a declaration that they will only stock and offer for sale CHSA Accredited products or products that conform to the standards required by the relevant CHSA Manufacturing Standards Accreditation Scheme. Distributors must also ensure they have a comprehensive range of materials and equipment in sufficient quantities to meet reasonable short notice requirements.


There is a rigorous auditing process involved in gaining CHSA Accredited Distributor status, and it doesn’t stop at gaining accreditation – audits also continue throughout the network, with a minimum of two audits each year. Being accredited by the CHSA also means a distributor offers consistency of supply, and accurately labelled products from fully audited manufacturers.

and hygiene products they are buying can be relied upon to meet the high standards of the scheme and all aspects of the CHSA code of practice. Simply put, if you buy from a CHSA Accredited Distributor Member you can be confident you will get what you pay for.
