In 2017/18 Work experience

We continue to attract and offer work experience opportunities to our local community of schools, colleges and third sector partners, all aimed at interesting local talent to become our future workforce.

We maintained our Gold Award national accreditation status for our work experience programme following a rigorous audit by Fair Train. This award recognises our passion to support our local communities, in particular our young unemployed groups to move into meaningful work by providing their first stepping stone into NHS careers.

“This was an incredible achievement and accolade for the Trust and for the young people they are leading through into an invaluable career. I am proud to be associated with the team as a Governor for the Trust and look forward to becoming more involved with training schemes wherever possible. Congratulations to those involved.”

Daughne Taylor, Public Governor for North Hampshire and West Berkshire

140 work experience students were placed in various departments with a number progressing into permanent employment.

A case study Megan Fell - Workforce Development Administrator

Megan came to HHFT for an 8 week work experience placement hoping to gain an understanding of the administration role within the NHS to see if this

was something she would like to pursue in her future. But Megan says she got more than she bargained for:

“I was delighted to be offered a Level 2 Administration Apprenticeship with the Trust and after 6 months of the apprenticeship I applied for and was offered a permanent role. I’m hoping to complete my apprenticeship in the summer and progress to the level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship.”

Her line manager says: “Megan is proving to be an asset to the team and we are delighted to be supporting her to achieve her full potential. In fact Megan is now responsible for coordinating our work experience programme here at HHFT”.
