Educating for tomorrow

A learning culture

Celebrating success:

promoting a culture of learning We recognised our staff for their outstanding contributions to learning during our inaugural Acorn Education Awards ceremony held in November 2017. We created the awards to celebrate staff for their individual and team contributions to developing a culture of learning at Hampshire Hospitals.

“I was ecstatic to win one award, but to win two left me speechless. It was so nice to be appreciated by the junior staff I have helped to train. It was amazing to see so many nominations for these awards. I think it shows that education is held in very high regard by our Trust and viewed as being important.

The award categories celebrate education and learning in its widest sense and there were 5 categories this year: Mentor/Supervisor of the year, Placement of the year, Best patient and public involvement in education, Educational team of the year and Director of Medical Education Award. Winning individuals and teams came from across the organisation and included a consultant microbiologist, G2 ward, long term conditions admin team and the communications teams.

It’s really important for us to provide all the tools our staff need to grow and develop within their roles. The mentors and teams work so hard to promote learning, which is why it’s so exciting to celebrate them and all the fantastic work they do” Kordo Saeed, who picked up two awards:
