PMB Moisture Analyser Incorporates Speed and Intuitive Features

Simple operation and quick response time make the PMB moisture analyser from Adam Equipment the top value in its class. Two PMB models are available: PMB 53 provides results at 0.01%/1mg with a capacity of 50g, while PMB 202 provides results at 0.1%/10mg with a capacity of 200g.

The PMB’s automatic test-setting function enables easy recall for frequent testing of the same items without additional user programming. USB and RS-232 interfaces provide computer, data logger and printer connections. A second USB port allows storage of test programs and data on a fl ash drive. PMB moisture analysers are self-contained, needing neither additional software nor a network connection for readings. Users can collect data on a production fl oor or anywhere power is available.

Single-parameter Handheld Instruments for pH, Conductivity and DO

WTW introduces the new Monoline series of single-parameter handheld instruments for intelligent digital sensors (IDS).

Three separate models are available for the respective parameters: pH 3310 IDS, Cond 3310 IDS, and Oxi 3310 IDS. (The latter model corresponding to WTW’s former Oxi 3315.)

The instruments are suited for all fi eld and process applications, they are robust and waterproof according to IP 67. Operation is easy via a backlit graphic display and plain text menus. The measured data can be stored in a large memory and output according to GLP to a PC or laptop via a waterproof USB interface.

The Monolines are perfect for users that need to measure only one parameter but do not want to miss the advantages of the digital IDS sensors: automatic transmission of calibration data and sensor parameters, secure digital signal transmission from the sensor to the instrument, cable lengths of up to 100 m and automatic documentation of all sensor data.

Adaptable Semi-Automatic Microplate Sealer

The MiniSeal II semi-automatic microplate sealer from Porvair Sciences comes complete with adapters enabling it to process deep well, shallow well, low profi le deep well, fi lter and assay plates that conform to the ANSI / SLAS standard format. MiniSeal II plate adaptors not currently in use are ingeniously designed to stack on top of the unit to keep them readily available.

The MiniSeal II heat sealer operates with a very high force, this together with a powerful 450W heater ensures high integrity sealing of almost any type of microplate. With so much available power, sealing times for most polypropylene plates with Porvair seals are less than 3 seconds each. Sealed plates are automatically ejected from the MiniSeal II. The compact footprint, about the size of a sheet of A4 paper, means that MiniSeal II will fi t just about anywhere - on your lab bench or inside a fumehood if required.

Easy to set up with simple up/down programming for both sealing time and sealing temperature, the MiniSeal II includes a robust microplate insertion drawer design that ensures excellent conformance to health and safety regulations. Designed for ease-of-use and installation the compact MiniSeal II just requires plugging into a single electrical outlet to operate. Unlike larger and more expensive automated sealers the MiniSeal II does not require a compressed air supply to operate.

Rotary Evaporator Breaks New Ground at Analytica 2014

Visitors to Analytica in Munich were the fi rst in the queue to see KNF Lab’s ground- breaking new RC900 Rotary Evaporator, an effi cient, robust instrument set to transform rotary evaporation and make the technique easier and safer than ever before.

The elegant, easy-to-clean design of the RC900 offers a range of novel features that focus on easy and reliable operation and increasing operator safety, including a unique remote control unit, simple one button functions for routine tasks such as changing fl asks, easily adjustable rotation speeds and dynamic temperature control, resulting in a breakthrough in performance and reliability for a wide range of applications.

Dr Alexander Scherer, Chair of Organic Chemistry at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany, has beta-tested the new system in his laboratory and said: “Our experience with KNF Lab pump systems has been great, and we were happy to test the rotary evaporator. We exposed

the RC900 to real laboratory conditions, such as corrosive and aggressive solvents, and made further suggestions on how to make the system even easier to operate. KNF Lab took these suggestions on board and the result is a high-performance system that features a user- friendly, intuitive touch screen and automated functions which really make life easier, helping to guarantee highly effi cient and safe operation. We are delighted to be one of the fi rst laboratories to buy one.”

Jim Findlay, Marketing Manager Laboratory Products at KNF Lab, added: “At KNF Lab, we pride ourselves on our strong reputation for producing solid, high-performance equipment for real laboratory situations. The new RC900 is a perfect example of this, designed to make rotary evaporation more user friendly than ever before.”
