Alexander Melville Kennedy was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the Royal Scots Fusiliers on 4 November 1914, and served with the 8th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 18 September 1915, being both awarded the Military Cross and Mentioned in Despatches.
