Nottinghamshire Combined Constabulary Policeman’s Helmet 1968-74. A scarce and good quality example of this short period. Of standard blue cloth pattern with chromed metal knop finial and frontal plate, this of crowned star pattern with central circle, ‘Nottinghamshire Combined Constabulary’ enclosing a full Coat of Arms, mainly those of Nottingham but with variation to the central shield. Patent leather chin strap, buff leather sweatband and supplier’s label, ‘Hobson & Sons (London) Ltd.’, very good condition

South Shields Police Helmet Plate 1954-68. A good quality two part chromed metal example, crowned eight pointed star back plate with raised title circle and pinned through ‘EIIR’ cypher, two fasteners out of three present, very good condition

County Borough of Tynemouth Police Helmet Plate. A fine quality and rare example in die-stamped white metal and features the Arms adopted by the Corporation c.1890. Featured are three Saxon crowns (Arms of the See of Ely!), a sailing ship crest, a coal miner and a merchant sailor act as supporters. Motto scroll at the base, ‘Messis Ab Altis’ (Harvest From The Deeps), two lug fasteners (6.3 x 4.7cm), good condition

Scottish Police Chief Superintendent’s Dress Cap 1952-54. Black cloth with black and white diced band, the front peak inlaid with two silver wire rank distinctions. Bullion and silk embroidered National badge featuring the Imperial crown, a thistle head with attendant leaf sprays, motto, ‘Semper Vigilo’. Black patent leather chin strap with plain cloth covered buttons. Supplier’s label, ‘Scott & Co. Hat Makers To The Late King George VI. 1 Old Bond Street Piccadilly W’., very good condition

Glasgow Fire Brigade Late 19th, early 20th Century Helmet. A rare example, the skull of hardened stout leather with a blackened finish, raised crest with brass trim, frontal band and peak trim in brass. Small gilding metal frontal badge featuring the Arms of Glasgow over crossed fireman’s tools, title strap, ‘Glasgow Fire Brigade’. Original leather sweatband/lining part detached. The inner rear peak with indistinct Glasgow supplier’s details, also marked, ‘112 D M Donald’. The leather chin strap a modern replacement, slight scarring to the skull and rear peak otherwise good condition
