THANKS
THE PRESTIGIOUS SCOTTISH PHARMACIST AWARDS ARE DESIGNED TO RECOGNISE, REWARD AND CELEBRATE THE WORK THAT COMMUNITY AND HOSPITAL PHARMACISTS, DO ON A ROUTINE BASIS – AND THERE IS CERTAINLY PLENTY TO CELEBRATE!
More than a decade on judges are constantly amazed by the quality of the work that is carried out in Scotland’s community and hospital pharmacies.
Scottish pharmacy is recognised not only nationally, but globally, and with good reason! The Scottish community pharmacy model is a shining light across the United Kingdom and beyond for its progressive, forward-thinking objectives. More and more community pharmacists are using their clinical skills to set up clinics for patients, not only taking pressure off GP practices across the region, but allowing pharmacists to show patients how they are clinicians in their own right and not simply dispensers of medication. With every pharmacist in Scotland required to be an independent prescriber by 2023, the clinical side of community pharmacy is destined to progress with increasing success.
The work of this year’s finalists is to be admired. From projects and initiatives designed to assist local communities with their health and wellbeing, to secondary care projects that aim to make hospital processes more streamlined and effective, the work that showcased at the award ceremony clearly demonstrated why the job of this year’s judges was even more difficult than usual.
We would not, of course, be able to stage our fantastic awards without the support of our headline, category and associated sponsors. This year we are highly appreciative of the great support we have received from headline sponsor, AAH Pharmaceuticals; our category sponsors: Bestway Medhub and Wardles, EMIS Health, Positive Solutions & Willach UK, Numark, AAH Hospital Services, Teva UK Ltd, VSL#3 the highly concentrated poly-biotic food supplement, Royal Pharmaceutical Society Scotland, Community Pharmacy Scotland, Valneva in Partnership and Scottish Pharmacist Magazine, and our associated sponsors, Eclipse Generics and EFX.
Congratulations to finalists and category winners. We hope that this industry recognition provides you with lots of positive publicity and richly deserved praise and immense job satisfaction. Keep up the superb work, you are all healthcare heroes!
