NUMARK

THREE DECADES OF NUMARK MEMBERSHIP AND STILL GOING STRONG

WHB SUTHERLAND HAS BEEN A NUMARK MEMBER FOR MORE THAN 30 YEARS. VICTORIA CLOUSTON, EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT AT WHB SUTHERLAND, EXPLAINS HOW ITS NUMARK MEMBERSHIP HELPS THE BUSINESS – WHICH NOW HAS EIGHT PHARMACIES ACROSS THE NORTH OF SCOTLAND - TO RUN EFFICIENTLY.

W

HB Sutherland opened their first pharmacy in Kirkwall, Orkney, in 1964

and a second branch in Stromness in 1970. Since then, the company has gone from strength to strength: progression which, says Victoria Clouston, is reinforced by its Numark membership.

‘We use Numark’s own generics scheme - Numerics - as well as their Brand Support programme, both of which put time back in our day to concentrate on other tasks,’ says Victoria..

‘The Brand Support programme in particular is great as we benefit financially from the rebates Numark offer each month. We are also signed up to their Enhanced Discounts scheme. It’s great and saves us money on things like packaging, beauty, stationery, training and insurance.’

18 - SCOTTISH PHARMACIST

Intuitive IT solutions have been fundamental to the running of WHB Sutherland’s branches.

‘We use Numark’s Adhera solution,’ Victoria continues, ‘which is a pharmacy analytics tools that helps us compare our performance against the competition. It shows us how well we are doing and also indicates where we can target business growth, helping us to improve our offering.’

On the retail side of the business, Victoria explains how useful the planograms are and, in particular, the company’s success with Numark’s own brand range.

‘Between shop re-fits and general housekeeping in the branches, the planograms have been an excellent starting point for creating customer- friendly displays. The planograms are a brilliant resource, giving us an excellent starting point for creating

customer friendly displays. The own- brand range is an important element of our offering. We always suggest the Numark alternative when our customers ask for a brand and, in fact, most of our customers now request the own brand. I personally like the recent repackaging across the range and, with the monthly deals, we are able maximise profits on these lines as well.’

NumarkNet is especially popular, hosting extensive resources, which have enabled WHB Sutherland to roll out a range of services in their branches.

‘Thanks to NumarkNet, we can offer weight management, blood pressure monitoring and cholesterol screening alongside our core services, such as MAS and CMS. The resources available have been invaluable in providing high quality staff training and excellent service provision. We

also use their free information services helpline for any dispensary queries, or if our pharmacists and dispensing teams have any questions whilst in branch.’

Victoria also credits Numark for the group’s relationship with their Key Account Manager.

‘Our Key Account Manager, Robyn, has been a great support. Whenever I’ve contacted her with a problem, she has quickly resolved it for us. We were also delighted that she made the effort to visit all our branches earlier this year which we appreciate was quite a trek! We would 100% recommend other pharmacies to join Numark.’
