Rosemont launch first licensed oral liquid Omeprazole

Rosemont, the experts in licensed liquid medicines, have announced the launch of Omeprazole Powder for Oral Suspension in 2mg/ml and 4mg/ml strengths.

Omeprazole in a liquid format has long been an unsatisfied need in patients with swallowing issues, previously having only been available as an unlicensed special.

The result of extensive research and development, Rosemont’s Omeprazole Powder for Oral Suspension is the first PPI approved for use on an mg/kg basis, uniquely indicated in babies from one month and is licensed for use with PEG and NG tubes.

A major advance in formulation with an innovative new format, Omeprazole Powder for Oral

Suspension, has been developed in a patented pack that makes constitution easy.

All excipients have been carefully selected. The product contains no ethanol, sugar or propylene glycol. The 2mg strength also includes a natural vanilla flavour to improve palatability for infants.

‘I am delighted that, following extensive research and development, Rosemont are able to bring to market this much requested, innovative product which fulfils a previously unmet need for both patients and healthcare professionals,’ said Howard Taylor, General Manager Rosemont Pharmaceuticals as he commented on the product launch.

Scotland gives green light to haemophilia A drug funding

Patients with severe congenital haemophilia A without factor VIII inhibitors can now get access to Hemlibra® (emicizumab) on the NHS in Scotland.

Haemophilia A is an inherited, serious disorder in which a person’s blood does not clot properly, in severe cases leading to uncontrolled and often spontaneous bleeding. People with haemophilia A either lack, or do not have enough of a clotting protein called factor VIII. There is currently no cure for haemophilia A, but

12 - SCOTTISH PHARMACIST

prophylaxis with factor VIII has been recognised as the preferred treatment approach to help prevent and reduce the frequency of bleeds.

Hemlibra can be self-administered by injection under the skin at multiple dosing options (once weekly, every two weeks, or every four weeks). In clinical trials, Hemlibra doses once-weekly or every two weeks led to a statistically significant and clinically meaningful reduction in treated bleeds compared to on- demand treatment.

• Mentoring & networking assistance from a dedicated training pharmacist and experienced pharmacists, training days at Head Office specifically tailored to meet your requests/needs. Including Management training support.

These positions will not suit everyone, we are looking for enthusiastic, committed individuals who will value a good early years pharmacy experience and maximise the learning & development opportunities on offer in a proactive and self-motivated manner.
