but that they were lucky to have ‘an already excellent example of primary care provision in the local chemist and his team’ this strived our team even more to continue to serve our community as best as we could.
‘Working closely with the locality pharmacists and technicians, our team successfully managed to transfer the vast majority of previous BOE serial prescription patients over to new serial prescriptions at their new surgeries within two months. We also have a lot newer serial prescriptions for patients who were previously not on this service. We are striving toward becoming a gold standard example of how to provide serial prescriptions to patients.
‘The working together of the pharmacy team in Bridge of Earn has been praised in numerous settings throughout Tayside and Scotland. None of my accomplishments in pharmacy compare to the pride I feel in my team nor convey how proud I am to work for Davidsons. It is a
genuine pleasure to come to work every day and know that we make a real difference to the health and wellbeing of the BOE and surrounding community.
The judges were equally impressed by the Davidsons Chemists' efforts.
‘The team,’ they said, ‘worked collaboratively with the Board to identify solutions when the closure of the village surgery was announced at very short notice. The resultant increase of workload for the team, described as Christmas times 50, was managed smoothly with the mantra ‘treat every patient like your Granny’.
‘The use of staff with particular skills increased use of serial prescriptions to support patient care for those in transition of surgeries. Effective communication was also crucial to calm patients anxious about the closure, both externally through leaflets and internally with twice daily meetings.’
‘Te most important thing about winning this award is that it is for the whole team at Bridge of Earn. It was a collective effort and the support that we had across the board was incredible. Tese guys simply stepped up to the plate and they were an absolute joy to work with’ Andrew Watson
‘We are absolutely delighted that Davidsons Chemists at Bridge of Earn are the recipients of this award. All of the categories at this year's awards are strong, but I think that this category is particularly strong as teams like this are driving the profession forward’ Steve Anderson, Managing Director, Phoenix
