ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY NAME BADGES Luckily there are more options cropping up. You can now get seeded paper name badges that enable attendees to grow flowers from them post-event, as well as lanyards made from paper so that your attendee name badges are as eco-friendly as possible.
DRIVE THE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY MESSAGE Place signage and messaging around your venue about the green choices you’ve made and why you’ve done it to help drive the sustainable focus, both during and after your event.
PEOPLE POWER You can reduce your carbon footprint by using your attendees to generate power. Should you be using a screen at your event, for example, there are bikes available to hire for events that enable your attendees to power the screen simply by cycling.
GO PAPERLESS There’s an app for that. By using an app for your event, you can invite and register your attendees, as well as give them all the information they need both pre-event and onsite to ensure every element of your event is paper-free.
SAY NO TO PLASTIC Whether it’s a marketing giveaway, such as a power bank, or water bottles that are
required, always say no to plastic. For water, how about giving your
attendees branded, stainless steel water bottles instead, and placing water taps around the event? If that’s not a feasible solution, canned or
glass-bottled water are much better than the plastic alternative. There are also some fantastic brands out there such as Belu, which sells glass-bottled water and invests 100% of its net profits into WaterAid - the international development charity determined to make clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene normal for everyone, everywhere within a generation! Lastly, never forget the recycling bins and compost bins too.
