Congratulations to our region’s winners of Queen’s Awards

Eight companies from across Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire – including three Chamber members – have been unveiled as the recipients of the 2020 Queen’s Awards for Enterprise. The annual awards are the

highest accolade that businesses can achieve from HM the Queen. They mark the contribution that SMEs make towards UK trade across four categories – innovation, international trade, sustainable development and promoting opportunity through social mobility. This year’s winners were:

• W. Ball & Son Ltd (trading as Baltex), of Derbyshire, which won an international trade award after increasing its overseas sales by 56% over the past three years and growing its proportion of exports to 67% of its total sales. • Marketing Derby, the inward investment promotion agency for Derby and Derbyshire, which won an innovation award for its sustainable model that matches private and public funding to support the attraction of jobs and investment. • Flair Flooring Group, of Derbyshire, which won an international trade award after more than doubling its exports over the past three years. • David Nieper, of Derbyshire, which won a sustainable development award for promoting

recipients of this year’s Queen’s Awards for Enterprise across our three counties. “There are some extremely deserving winners this year which have done amazing things in their own sectors over the past 12 months and all deserve this prestigious recognition. “Our special congratulations go

to the Chamber members which are represented this year. They are Baltex, which has achieved significant growth in the export markets in the past 12 months, Esendex, in recognition of its innovative mobile payments

system, and Marketing Derby, which does such vital work in not only putting the city on the map, but also in attracting investment from which the whole region benefits. “The Queen’s Awards is a hallmark of quality for the businesses which have won one, which marks them out from their competition. It’s great to see so many winners from across the East Midlands, and Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire in particular, this year, which highlights the strength of the region’s business community.”
