CHAMBER NEWS

Chamber offers package of member support in response to Covid-19

The Chamber is encouraging members to share positive news amid the coronavirus pandemic. Below: Last month’s MP Briefing took place online

Since the announcement of the coronavirus lockdown, the Chamber has been busy listening to members and working with its partners to deliver a package of measures designed to support businesses and communities throughout the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The Chamber has responded by launching a new online campaign to help businesses stay positive and share their good news, along with a series of free online events. The new East Midlands Coming

Together Hub will promotes positivity and community spirit across the region during a difficult time for many businesses. It aims to showcase the work

that Chamber members are undertaking to support their fellow businesses, local communities and the health service, highlight some of the funding and support options available, and promote the key projects that local firms can get involved in. Under the hashtag

#EMComingTogether, the Chamber’s social media accounts have shared over 40 stories, services and initiatives from member companies since the campaign’s launch at the start of April. Chamber Chief Executive Scott

Knowles said: “We live in unprecedented times, with

businesses and their employees having to deal with circumstances that are challenging and uncertain. “However, despite this, there’s a

lot of incredible work going on across the East Midlands as businesses work to support each other, their employees and the communities in which they operate, and this is what we aim to highlight. “Our new ‘East Midlands Coming

Together Hub’ is designed to showcase some of the ways that local businesses are adapting in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic,

helping their fellow businesses and utilising digital technology and flexible working practices to not only stay open, but to improve their processes, become more efficient and prepare themselves for when the current situation comes to an end. “As always, businesses across the

East Midlands are showing great resilience and innovation in the face of adversity as they continue to adapt to the realities of this new way of working and this is what we want to celebrate.”

The Chamber has also

redesigned its events programme, hosting 68 online events throughout April - comprising a mixture of webinars, training, Chamber forums, MP briefings, online networking and Q&As for members and non-members - including the weekly topical Ask the Chamber Live. After just 29 of those events, the

online programme had engaged and supported 740 people. Scott continued: “Our aim is to

offer businesses as much accessible support as we can during these challenging times. By listening to our members and working with our partners to tailor support to match current needs, the team has done a great job in creating an engaging, topical and informative online events programme. “Aside from guiding businesses

to the other side of this crisis, we also want to encourage businesses to keep connecting and communicating, to maintain those conversations and boost morale. It has been great to see many people embrace online networking to keep the business community talking. “We have been overwhelmed by

the positive feedback and engagement we have received for the online events so far and I look forward to seeing what our May programme has to offer.”
