CHAMBER NEWS Chamber and Rotary join forces

The Chamber is joining forces with Rotary Clubs across the East Midlands to launch an exciting new initiative aimed at helping businesses fulfil their corporate social responsibility (CSR) objectives. The new scheme will see Rotary

Clubs in the region identify and detail relevant projects in the community and submit the information to a central point. This information will then be shared with businesses and organisations, which can express their interest in a specific project that they wish to support. They will be able to access

information regarding contact details, location, resource requirements, time frame etc. The projects will provide opportunities to engage in team building, leadership and networking. Rotary International is an

organisation built upon the principals of providing voluntary support to those in need. In the East Midlands and South Yorkshire area, Rotary has been actively working with the business community to provide volunteer support for community-based projects in the region.

Business Partnership, said: “Covid- 19 has affected all of us in some way or another and will undoubtedly change the way that

people look at life in the future. “One good thing to emerge from

the crisis is the amazing willingness of the business community and individuals to volunteer to help

those in need in our communities. Many already involved with the voluntary sector are aware that the need is always present, but it is only at times like this that it becomes very apparent to everyone. “Volunteering is a very

worthwhile and satisfying way of spending spare time. It also has many benefits to the business community including having a positive impact on their local community.” Chamber Chief Executive Scott

Knowles added: “Getting involved with projects in the community is a great way of achieving personal and professional development. 2020 may be a year of change for many reasons but it is certainly one of great opportunity and committing to helping those in need in the community is one that is of great value to business. “The Rotary Engages with the Chamber initiative makes it easy for employers to engage with the local community and offer volunteering opportunities to the employees.”
