ustralasia is preparing to give water salutes to an impressive fleet of first-time arrivals during the 2020/21 cruise season.


In the lineup of ships new to the region are Azamara Club Cruises’ Azamara Pursuit, Celebrity Cruises’ Celebrity Eclipse, Crystal Cruises’ Crystal Endeavor, MSC Cruises’ MSC Poesia, Ponant’s Le Bellot, Princess Cruises’ Regal Princess, P&O Cruises Australia’s Pacific Adventure and Pacific Encounter, Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ Seven Seas Explorer, Royal Caribbean International’s Serenade of the Seas and Windstar Cruises’ Star Breeze.


RCL Cruises’ Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Club Cruises will carry a record 350,000 passengers in Australia in 2020/21, expanding capacity by 35% on the 2019/20 season.


It is introducing Royal Caribbean International’s 2,400-passenger Serenade of the Seas, which will be based in Sydney from October 2020 to April 2021, and Celebrity Cruises’ 2,850-passenger Celebrity Eclipse which will operate from Station Pier from December 2020 until April 2021 — the first time the company has based a ship in Melbourne.


Azamara Club Cruises’ 690-passenger Azamara Pursuit will debut in December 2020 and will operate six sailings until March 21.


On October 15, 2020, Crystal Endeavor sails from Bali on a 16-night ‘Indonesian Immersive & the Great Barrier Reef’ voyage to Cairns. On October 31 she continues on a 14-night ‘Australian Offshore and the Great Barrier Reef’ sailing to Sydney.


On November 14 Crystal Endeavor departs Sydney for a series of New Zealand voyages.

make Antarctica expeditions from Hobart to Christchurch and Christchurch to Hobart.


On March 24, 2021, she makes a 10-night ‘Great Australian Adventure’ voyage from Melbourne to Fremantle via Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia. From there she makes her repositioning voyage to Singapore.


MSC Poesia comes through Australia in February/March 2021, calling at Sydney, Brisbane and Cairns and Ponant’s Explorer Class Le Bellot will begin a Kimberley programme of eight 10-night voyages between Darwin and Broome on April 28, 2021.


On September 17, 2021 the 184-passenger Le Bellot will make a 13-night ‘Aboriginal Art of the Kimberley and Tiwi Islands’ voyage from Broome to Darwin in partnership with National Geographic.


The 3,560-passenger Regal Princess, which will debut in Sydney from December 2020 until April 2021, will join fellow Royal-class ship, Majestic Princess, to operate what will be Princess Cruises’ biggest 2020/21 season in Australasia.


P&O Cruises Australia’s resident ships will be sailing out of six home ports during the 2020/21 season — Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Auckland and Cairns.


Pacific Adventure, currently sailing as Princess Cruises’ Golden Princess, joins the fleet in October 2020 and Pacific Encounter, currently sailing as Princess Cruises’ Star Princess, joins in 2021.


Seven Seas Explorer arrives in Sydney for the first time on January 6, 2021. The same day she departs on a 15-night voyage to Auckland and on January 21 she makes the return voyage to Sydney.


On February 4 she sails on an 18-night ‘Koalas to Komodos’ voyage to Bali, then on to Hong Kong and Tokyo.


Windstar Cruises’ Star Breeze, newly renovated as part of the company’s $250m Star Plus Initiative, departs Bali on November 16, 2020 for Cairns on a ‘Hidden Indonesia and Great Barrier Reef Expedition.’


The 312-passenger boutique ship leaves Cairns on February 28, 2021, for her return to Bali. Meanwhile, she will cruise extensively around Australia and New Zealand.


‘The 2020-21 season is going to bring one of the biggest assortments of ships new to our region,’ CLIA Australasia chief Joel Katz said.
