Established in 2008 from the joining of T. Mariotti and San Giorgio del Porto companies, the Genova Industrie Navali (GIN) group has recently unified under a single logo to reinforce its strategic positioning in the global market.
GIN offers turn-key solutions from engineering to newbuilding, conversion, refitting, repair, drydock and other special projects on cruise ships through its Genoa-based oldest group site and the newest Chantier Naval de Marseille (CNM) joint-venture company, where Costa Group is a shareholder.
CNM registered a strong order intake on the latter site in the last two years with an average 15-20% increment per year over the previous one.
Looking to 2020, CNM has already secured 12 projects. The most complex activity so far completed in Marseille between January and February – a 30 day $100m revitalisation of Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Spirit.
Between February 3 and 13, CNM also welcomed TUI’s Mein Schiff 4 which received its first renovation since its delivery in 2015.
The Western Ligurian Sea Port Authority-controlled Genoa docks capable of accommodating 270mtr ships, are mainly used by GIN for repairs and conversions such as Costa Cruises’ Costa neoRiviera transformed into the new AIDAmira for AIDA Cruises between October and November 2019.
