or more than 60 years, Bannside Pharmacy has been the focal point for the local community in Portglenone, so the mystery


shopper who visited the pharmacy for this year’s awards had no problems finding eoghan O’Brien’s popular pharmacy.


even before entering the premises, the mystery shopper was impressed by the external appearance of the shop, with its clean, tidy entrance and attractive front signage. The entrance was a single door which, initially, the shopper thought was too narrow for wheelchair access, but they quickly spotted the sign on the door indicating wheelchair access.


The entranceway was well kept, clean and tidy and the window displays were appropriate and well displayed.


On entering the pharmacy, the mystery shopper was immediately greeted by a female team member, who was standing at the perfume counter. The team member – Louise - was well- groomed and friendly, and greeted the shopper with a smile and immediate eye contact.


On looking around the pharmacy, the shopper noted that all of the team members were well presented and very well groomed. The other customers in the shop were all being attended to in a professional manner and the shopper noted that they appeared to be working well together as a team. Customers/patients were approached immediately on entering the premises and did not have to stand and wait.


Louise enquired as to whether she could help the shopper, but they just said they were looking


around. The shopper walked around the shop, carefully observing the various sections of the pharmacy, which were clearly labelled, clean and well stocked.


In addition to its dispensing function, Bannside Pharmacy is well known throughout Mid-Antrim and Mid-Ulster for its holistic approach to health and wellbeing. As such, the pharmacy boasts a large section of ‘natural’ and complementary therapy products and all staff are well trained in providing advice on these products. The shopper noted this section was particularly comprehensive in the ranges that it offered and also that information leaflets were also clearly displayed.


Next to the complementary therapy section, the shopper noticed that there was a display stand that provided information on everything from
