Gail and Pat found Seadog Cottages on VRBO. “They’re not a ‘pretend’ dog- friendly place. They are truly dog-friendly,” said Pat. “They offer extras for our dogs.”

Christine Zimmerman and Kiki have been staying in Schooner’s Place cottage for almost two years. She’s been waiting for the construction of her new Safety Harbor condomini- um to be completed. “Of course, it was to be done much sooner than we all anticipated. But, I love it here at Seadog Cottages,” said Christine. She sold her home in Redington Beach after having lived there for 25 years. “After my hus- band died, my kids said, mom, get out of that big house!” After the pre-construction

purchase of her condo,

This past March was their fifth year vaca- tioning in Florida at Seadog Cottages’ Duval House cottage. The couple travels from Maine with their dogs Gagne, Mason and JD, named after a Vermont Pub owner (more on that in a bit). “The dogs enjoy traveling as much as we do,” said Pat. “We all love it here. Mick and Desanya are two of the nicest people you could ever meet. Whatever we need, they provide. They make us feel so at home, so welcome. That’s why we keep coming back.”

About JD’s name: During a trip to Florida, one year, Gail and Pat made a chance stop at JD McCliment’s GastroPub in Putney, Vermont. They played a game of dice with the local crowd and ended up winning the pool. So, they bought the house a round. The next dog to enter their lives, a white Maltese, they named JD, after the Pub’s owner. And, each year since, on their way down to Florida, they stop in to buy the house a round.

Gail added, “When you find people

who are good and kind, it’s easy to keep coming back. One year, before discovering Seadog Cottages, we traveled to Italy for two weeks. We kept saying how much we missed the dogs!” The women feel they’ve become part

of the town. “Safety Harbor is unique. The way you experience the life of a commu- nity is to become a part of it,” said Pat. “We’re much more active when we visit here. We walk three miles with the dogs every morning. We love to shop. And the restaurants. We have a wildly great time at Parts of Paris. Every day we’re here we say how happy we are that the dogs are with us.”

www.TheNewBarker.com Christine also loves Parts of Paris for

dinner and has lunch at Barfly almost every day. “Mick works so hard to keep this place up. There is such attention to detail; the hospitality. I feel very secure here. Seadog Cottages makes me feel cheery,” said Christine.

Christine began looking online for long- term cottages to rent and found Seadog Cottages. “I didn’t have to go shopping for anything except food, when I moved in,” said Christine. “Everything was already here. The kitchen was fully stocked as were the bathroom and bed- room with luxurious linens and towels. Mick and Desanya have been so very kind to me. This feels like my home away from home.”
