Pete’s Reel Good Fish Sandwich, a great catch of the day. Grilled, blackened or fried. Pair it with Homemade Onion Straws.
Pete & Shorty’s Tavern

Home cooking like momma used to make (if your momma could cook).
A visit home to mom’s meant you ate. “Eat, eat,” she’d say. “You look like you haven’t had a good meal in days,” she’d add, while bringing you another heaping portion of your favorite meal. That’s what a homecooked meal at Pete &
Shorty’s reminds me of. Created by the co-founders of the Original Hooters, it’s a fun place with a friendly staff who love what they’re serving up, whether it’s food or hospitality. There are some fun apps on the menu, like Shorty’s Fried Mushroom Chips, hand sliced and lightly battered. They are delicious, as are Pete’s Amazing Fried Pickles. For the meat lover, there are plenty of selec-
tions on the menu — from the burgers to Mom’s Meatloaf. And every day offers up a Daily Special: Monday is Salmon Caesar Salad. Friday is the Fish Fry. Saturday is Shorty’s Steak Frites — a tender char-grilled ribeye served with a pile of shoestring fries and gravy for dipping. Is your mouth watering, yet? You won’t leave hungry with these portions, and each dish is beautifully presented. The large and roomy outdoor patio at the
Clearwater location makes this dog-friendly venue really comfortable. High top tables have umbrellas and there is a big screen TV for sports watching. The Pinellas Park location is dog-friendly as well with outdoor dining on the covered front porch. If hearty comfort food is what you’ve been
craving, Pete & Shorty’s will exceed your expecta- tions. Based on small-town taverns popular throughout the Midwest, this could become your new favorite place where friends gather to relax, eat, drink and enjoy a really good time. Cozy, welcoming with a “down-home” atmosphere, Pete & Shorty’s offers up some great food at reasonable prices.
My traveling and dining companion, Angel, looks longingly at The Pork Shank.
It’s big and fall-off-the-bone tender; served with mashed potatoes, every Thursday as the Daily Special for $12.99. We paired ours with a side of the sauteed fresh green beans. Perfection.
