Grassroots Efforts Increasing for Low Cost Spay/Neuter Programs Across Florida.
While most people in animal rescue and advocacy believe spay/neuter is the solution to the pet overpopulation prob- lem, there are many folks who believe mandatory spay/neuter is too far-reaching into the private lives of citizens, and will never happen. While folks argue, others are taking matters into their own hands by opening low cost spay/neuter clinics to help curb the pet overpopulation problem and promote responsible pet ownership. SPAY N SAVE, Central Florida low cost spay/neuter
clinic announced in October that they had performed their 50,000th surgery since opening in 2012. “By pro- viding basic affordable care, we are helping thou- sands of pet owners in our community retain their pets and keep them healthy. Our community cat programs are helping to control the stray cat population through spay- ing, neutering and vacci- nation. We are also
pleased to see that the intake of cats and dogs at local shelters has significantly dropped in the years since we began” says Phyllis Ayoob, Spay N Save co-founder and Board member.
TLC PetSnip, Inc. now has three locations offering low
cost spay/neuter surgeries in Lakeland, Seffner and Ocala. Since opening their first location in Lakeland in 2012, TLC PetSnip has performed more than 29,000 spay/neuter surgeries. Free transportation is also available to the clinic and will expand drop-off and pick-up locations in 2019. Animal Coalition of Tampa (ACT) is opening their new clinic in January.
