The Royal Hotel has been hosting grand celebrations and elegant parties ever since it was first built in 1832. Its historic Victorian architecture and lush, sweeping gardens form an exceptionally stylish backdrop to any wedding, and it’s hard to imagine a more luxurious Island setting for your Big Day.

Basking in the balmy climate of sunny Ventnor, with sea views just beyond the hotel walls, The Royal’s beautifully-maintained grounds are a stylish extension of its ornately decorated interior, and in the evenings the colourful gardens are tastefully illuminated with decorative lighting, lending the location a truly romantic aura. The Royal has two rooms that are licensed for civil ceremonies: the opulent Appuldurcombe Room, which can accommodate up to 120 guests for a ceremony (and 150 to dine), or the Albert Room for smaller parties of up to 40 guests. Afterwards, you can enjoy a champagne toast in the hotel’s smart Brasserie or Top Lounge, or take advantage of the hotel’s superb position and head up to the clifftop Riviera Terrace - with unrivalled views across Ventnor Bay and the English Channel, this makes a stunning backdrop for wedding photographs.

Your first meal as a married couple is one you’ll remember for decades to come, and the chefs will help create a bespoke menu that reflects your personal tastes and favourite dishes.

Winter weddings are The Royal’s forte, and the experienced hospitality team will help you plan every detail of the day to ensure your wedding is utterly unforgettable. Packages start at £4295 and include hire of the grand Appuldurcombe Room, Prosecco on arrival and for the toast, a three-course Wedding Breakfast for 60 guests, and half a bottle of house wine per person.

For couples who seek total privacy for their special day, The Royal is available for Exclusive Hire, with full use of the hotel’s 51 bedrooms and all public areas including gardens and car park.

Set up a casino or photo booths in the Brasserie, book a children’s entertainer to look after the younger guests in The Albert Room, while a band or DJ entertains the adults in the conservatory.

Special packages are also available especially designed for smaller-scale Intimate Weddings (catering for up to 30 guests) and a special rate for select Summer Sundays - visit the website for these dates.
