Centre manager Mike Sizer-Green said: “In the last year, we have helped around 1,600 people, just from the Isle of Wight centre alone. This includes therapies, counselling, appointment travel advice, or just a chat and a coffee.
“We hope to be able to build on this, because the sad fact is the number of people on the Island with cancer will increase.
“We see huge changes in the people who come through our door - both physically and emotionally. The destructive side of cancer affects far more than just the person’s physical health and we can offer specialist support for this. The people that we help often become a valuable part of our community.”
Community engagement manager Lorraine White said: “We have tried to be creative with our fundraising ideas, coming up with new and exciting events for the Isle of Wight and that approach has worked really well.
“The Inflatable Rainbow Run was an incredible success, 1,000 people attended and the event as a whole raised more than £35,000, which was just phenomenal.
“The drive-in cinema was also something quite unique for the Island and as well as spreading a little Christmas cheer and boosting our appeal financially, it also helped us spread the word about what we do.
“We are now putting our heads together to come up with our next big fundraiser for early 2019 and we hope that will help us over the £100,000 finish line.”
