Over the years, many interesting books have been through the bindery, including several hand-produced First World War diaries and a limited edition copy of Oscar Wilde’s Ballad of Reading Gaol, which Quarr was asked to bind in green to meet Wilde’s specific wishes.
Quarr has also built and bound several leather-bound books for use as photograph and wedding albums, as well as visitors’ books. A lot of Quarr’s work involves the repair of common or garden cloth-bound books that may be of no great historical importance but are of infinite value to the people who own them.
The bindery is always available to advise people on their book binding needs and to provide a quote.
