sources of relevant information are noted and our thanks are due to them for their tedious and painstaking work. We must also thank many Senior members of the Club for the efforts they made to bring to our attention happenings at the Club in the past.


We are grateful to Philip Kemp, Malcolm Henderson, Dolly Dawson, and the


Ladies 1992 Committee who wrote Chapters 4, 6, 7 and 5 respectively, their names are recorded in the Contents page.


Many of the older black and white prints were provided by members and


friends of the Club, these include Leslie Williams, Wally Smithers, John Reece, Jack Tomas, Gerry Dacombe and Ray Burniston. Te more recent coloured photographs used were taken by Dick Doyle, Vic Marshall, Malcolm Henderson, Peggy Box and Barry Manning. Bob Evans, a former Club member, provided the aerial photographs and views of some holes on the Course.


Te various plans of the Golf Course were drawn by A.H. (Tony) Randell and


Peter Layton. Peter Briggs provided information and cuttings from his collection of Golf Magazines which were used in Chapter 1 and I thank them for their help and interest.


Barry Manning, our Managing Secretary and Gill Bishop his assistant, who


typed the manuscript, were helpful at all stages of the production of the Book. Te contribution to part of Chapter 9, which was written by Barry, is noted in the Preface.


I am particularly grateful to Dr Eric Hislop (Club Chairman) and to Dr E.A.


(Ted) Baker (Green Committee) for suggesting improvements to the manuscripts and to my wife, Iris, for her interest, helpful suggestions, patience and proof checking.


Finally, the preparation of this Centenary Book has been a fascinating exercise


and I count myself lucky to have been entrusted with the task of writing the history of our Club that is special to so many of us.
