Centenary Message from the two Club Captains


Captain in the Centenary celebrations. It is a privilege for both of us to be writing the foreword in this Centenary publication which has been produced by our President, with the help of various other members. As members for the past few years we have seen various recent developments

but these will be insignificant as compared with the changes in the Club during its past one hundred years. Many of these are recorded in this book. Long Ashton is recognised as one of the foremost courses and clubs in the


Bristol area. We attract both regional and national competitions and, only last year, the Club acted as host for English Boys Stroke-Play Championship (Carris Cup) and the Ladies British Open Championship. We are all grateful to our predecessors who founded the Club and to the many


worthy servants who have guided its progress with such success through our first one hundred years. We look forward, with confidence and enthusiasm, to the Club’s continuing success and future development.

E start our centenary year on 1st January 1993. As the Club year does not coincide with the calendar year this gives two of us the honour of being


Tis centenary year is something special for all of us and the Club’s Committees


have planned a programme of functions and events to celebrate. We are sure it will be an enjoyable and memorable year for all. We pay tribute to all who have contributed to the production of this book


and are sure it will make interesting reading to our present and future members. We hope all who are concerned with the Club in any way enjoy a memorable year.
