1. Why are you passionate about your specialty? Growing up I watched members of my family
struggle with chronic health concerns for which the conventional medical model seemed to have no good answers. I know how it can be, feeling lost within the medical system, feeling dismissed by doctors and health care providers. I want those people to know that there are reasons they feel unwell. I absolutely love coming to work every day knowing that we are helping people to feel better in their bodies, have the physical and mental energy to really be present with their families, and to live their best lives!
2. What sets you apart from other practitioners in the holistic fi eld?
I learned early on that in order for patients to truly regain their health or secure their future wellness, they have to learn how to create the internal conditions for health. We begin with education at Valley Wellness Center. All of our patients learn about our unique model so that they can decide if we really are the best fi t for their health journey. Our ability to help rests in our ability to help our patients understand the underlying causes of their health concern and learn how to build a lifestyle that supports health from the inside out.
3. What can patients expect from working with you? They can expect to be listened to. We always begin by sitting
down with patients to thoroughly explore their history, challenges, and most importantly their health goals. Then we design an indi- vidualized plan to address their specifi c concerns and take them to those goals.
4. What plans do you have for the future for your practice? We just recently expanded to include a second location in Can-
ton! We added an infra-red sauna, which is a great expansion on our current detox system and hydrotherapy programs.
5. Tell us about the best memory you have about being a holistic practitioner.
The fi rst time that I got to tell a patient that they no longer needed their diabetic medications and that all of their diabetes markers were now within the healthy, non-diabetic range with no medications! This time was particularly impactful, because this patient’s husband (who was not undergoing treatment, but had been improving his lifestyle right alongside her) was able to reduce his pain medications for his multiple sclerosis AND was no longer walking with a walker.
6. What do you like the most about being a part of Natural Nutmeg?
I love being a part of Natural Nutmeg because there are so many health-minded individuals providing quality education in the maga- zine. It is so important to have trusted sources like this to use as a resource, because knowing how to fi nd quality health information is one of the biggest challenges people face in protecting their health.

ringing together healing, movement and visual arts, VSWC houses three treatment rooms,
a movement studio, art gallery, Chinese herbal apothecary, and shop. Twenty-one practitioners offer acupuncture, massage therapy, yoga, and more.
1. How did Valley Spirit get started and what is your mission?
Lee, Jampa and I opted to house our three businesses in a single space in my hometown of Washington, bringing together healing and movement arts, with visual and performance art and design. Opening up the space to other practitioners and teachers was an extension of our cooperative approach.
2. What sets you apart from other holistic centers?
We offer a variety of classes and treatments that are not readily found locally (Medical Qi Gong, Taoist Healing practices, Tibetan meditation, Tui Na). Valley Spirit is a “go to” center to support healing from the inside out.
3. What plans do you have for the future?
Insurance for acupuncture treatments; CEU classes for practitioners starting in 2019; Tibetan teachings with Kundrol Rinpoche and Latri Nyima Rinpoche are on the schedule for 2019; Destination retreats to Peru, Iceland and Nepal.
4. Tell us about the best memory you have about being a holistic business owner.
When people walk into Valley Spirit and take a moment to just be - right there - at the doorway. They feel the intention this center was built with: to serve with love and compassion. Folks say Valley Spirit has changed their lives for the better and we benefi t as practitioners and facilitators as we offer service to our community.

David Chandler, MA D
avid Chandler, MA, is a Certifi ed Hypnotist, Hypnosis Instructor, Mindfulness Meditation
Facilitator and Tai Chi Master. David offers therapeutic hypnosis for all ages, as well as Hypnosis Certifi cation Training.
1. Why are you passionate about your specialty?
I love assisting people in transforming their lives by focusing one’s attention, altering their consciousness and relaxing their body to the degree they can respond. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis – you are led through an induction to a state of incredible awareness where the mind is concentrated to allow suggestions by the hypnotist to activate your motivation to a heightened degree.
2. What sets you apart from other practitioners? Probably the most unique thing about my background is that I’m a
trained actor and I learned how to create a script to become a person who is different from my past self…to create a new body if you will. I also have a Master’s in Integrative Health and Healing and I’m a practitioner of Tai Chi Chuan and meditation for over 44 years.
3. What can clients expect from working with you? One of the fi rst things I do is instill trust and explain the process of
how I assist them in overcoming challenges so they can have a higher level of success. After we assess the problem, then we go into the past through a regression process and see where the diffi cult behavior began and where the imprint was created. We re-experience that, and change the experience in the present so it can be dealt with here and now.
