T 1. Why would one choose the UB Clinics for healthcare?

We provide comprehensive care focused on prevention, wellness, and healthy lifestyles that allow people to attain their individual health and wellness goals. Patients are educated about the root cause of their illness, rather than just treated symptomatically. They learn about the body’s innate ability to heal using safe and natural remedies, where appropriate, instead of taking medications. Acupuncture and tradition- al Chinese medicine is used to treat many diseases, disorders, and pain conditions. Involving the patient as a partner provides a better patient experience.

Through preventive diagnostics (blood typing and other blood testing) we identify certain allergy titers, cholesterol levels, diabetes, hormone levels, and genetic disorders. This enables us to treat condi- tions with natural remedies instead of toxic and harmful prescription medications. Health assessments take into account the physical, mental, emotional, social, dietary and environmental dimensions of your health. 2. What sets you apart from other clinics in the holistic fi eld?

An individualized approach allows clinicians and student interns to treat the patient, not the disease, and further enhance the patient’s overall well-being. One of the best features we have is the ability to offer same or next day appointments. In addition, we provide radiol- ogy services and have a dispensary where patients, and the general public, may purchase over-the-counter vitamins, supplements, herbal medicines, homeopathics and other health products.

We also have an Integrative Shift Clinic where all four disciplines (acupuncture, chiropractic, dental hygiene and naturopathic medicine) come together to manage patient cases. The patient has an appoint- ment in each clinic and a complete health assessment is conducted by a team of supervised student interns and their respective clinicians. The full team then meets and discusses the individual case and creates a specifi c plan of care that may include treatment in one or more of the specialty clinics. The initial assessment is completely free!

3. What are some of the most memorable testimonials you’ve re- ceived about the clinic?

We recently received this testimonial, which is a fi tting tribute to our Clinic: “I feel it’s especially necessary to support your clinic as the practitioners were instrumental in fi nding a cure with a chronic illness I’ve dealt with for 17 years. At one point I had stopped eating to avoid the pain in my gut and I was struggling to live through the trauma. Your students and physicians have made the difference in fi nding the answer to return to a healthy state of body and mind. Thank you for everything I’ve learned and the solution to pain management besides medication – all the services are a blessing to me.”

1. Why are you passionate about your specialty?

Many patients fi nd naturopathic medicine after years of illness and dead ends. Educating patients to take an active and life changing role in their health leads to small miracles everyday.

2. What can patients expect from working with you?

Most of my patients know that they are an extension of my family. I am extremely dedicated and spend a lot of time working with each person individually. That said, I have high expectations of my patients in return. Commitment, communication, and consistency.

3. What plans do you have for the future?

Expanding my practice to make natural healing modalities more ac- cessible to people and educating more individuals to take control of their health.

4. Tell us about the best memory you have about being a holistic practitioner.

Hearing people say things like, “I can’t believe I am off that medica- tion after 20 years” are moments that you never forget. They are a mere reminder of how powerful it is to work in concert with nature and how lucky I am to witness what the body is capable of when given the right tools.

5. What do you like the most about being a part of Natural Nutmeg?

Being a part of a sophisticated publication with outstanding contributors and staff is a privilege. I love a platform to provide resources for people without cost to them.
