SmartGo scheme is in the running for travel award
A workplace travel network that was founded in Leicester in 2010 will be competing against national travel projects at this year’s Smarter Travel Awards. The SmartGo Leicester scheme
now supports local businesses across the city with a combined employee figure of over 37,000. It helps businesses in Leicester including Highcross Leicester, Leicester City Council, University of Leicester, De Montfort University, Mattioli Woods and Pick Everard to save staff money and encourage low carbon travel. Nationally, it is now assisting 96,000 employees, from employers including Airbus, East Midlands Airport, Horiba Mira and GlaxoSmithKline. SmartGo is now coordinated by
local social enterprise, Go Travel Solutions. The company is based at the Chamber-managed Friars Mill, in Leicester. SmartGo has been nominated for the Best Smarter Travel Innovation
‘This award is testament to how the network has developed and grown in Leicester and across the UK’
Award. This category is open to all mobility related projects that display a commitment to design or technological innovation. The third annual Smarter Travel
Awards ceremony will be held at the Exhibition Centre in Liverpool and is organised by Landor Links. The awards showcase how lives in the 21st Century are being improved by enabling effective mobility options across our towns and cities. These awards celebrate the impressive achievements, the smartest approaches and the high impact of smarter travel projects and the professionals who lead them.
